When the Phone Becomes Me

"A Journey Into an Inner Emptiness"

An endless search — for something we don't know the name of

I didn't notice it at first.

The phone in my hand — that's normal.

The phone on the bed — that's usual.

The phone as the first thing in the morning — that's what everyone does.

But one day I sat down and asked myself:

what are all these apps I don't even know the use of?

When was the last time the phone wasn't in my hand?

I found no answer.

The problem isn't the time.

The problem is the reason.

I scroll — but I don't know what I'm looking for.

I browse — but nothing is enough.

I close one app — and open another.

As if I'm searching for something in a dark room —

and I don't know its shape.

The phone didn't become a habit.

It became an answer.

An answer to a question I never asked out loud.

What is the question?

Sometimes it's the emptiness.

That inner silence that unsettles you when you sit alone.

The phone fills it — temporarily.

Sometimes it's the pain.

Not just physical pain —

but that tension that lives in the chest and won't leave.

The phone distracts from it — a little.

Sometimes it's a spiritual hollowness.

A feeling that something is missing —

and you don't know what.

So you search for it in one platform, then another, then another.

But the phone doesn't fill the spiritual emptiness.

It only postpones it.

And every time you postpone it —

the emptiness grows a little more.

The mind, by nature, doesn't want stillness.

It wants to think, search, move.

This isn't a problem — this is its nature.

The problem is we gave this hungry mind —

fast food that never satisfies.

And the more it eats —

the hungrier it gets.

The phone didn't invent the emptiness inside you.

It only made it clearer —

and louder.

The real question isn't:

how many hours do I spend on my phone?

The question is:

what am I searching for when I open it?
