A Discerning Palate

At the start of this rhyme — there is something to — impart A carnivorous plant — is not for the squeamish of — heart.

Their digestion — involves enzymes — and repulsive juices Much less wondering — how this flesh-eater — reproduces.

Dina — the pitcher plant — was a glorious example Her body was lengthy — and her bulbous bottom — ample.

Dina’s colourful peristome — and alluring — nectar Entrap her prey — into her nutritional — collector.

Now Dina’s palate — was ever infallible — tricky While the hairs in her body — rather overly — sticky.

Her owner — tended to her with — adoring loving care “Dina must always have the finest” — she did once declare.

At dinner time — she preferred — several exotic flies Which — she digested voraciously — whatever their size.

But for breakfast — Dina liked to start her day with — a treat Hungrily — eating a small green frog — just leaving — its feet.
