I saw the trailer for Christopher Nolan’s rendition of The Odyssey, and while I’ve always been a fan of his movies, I am disappointed that he has given in to woke Hollywood with his most recent casting decision.
After seeing how much screen time is given to a minor character, just because he’s a minority, I will definitely not be seeing The Odyssey. I’m calling for an all-out Christopher Nolan boycott because there is no reason to cast a cyclops in a movie about humans.
First it was dressing up completely made-up mythical characters in historically inaccurate armor. Then it was casting a Black woman as an fictional olive-skinned character who is clearly from the Mediterranean, which is different from all the pale men who were also cast in similar roles.
Then it was having characters say things like, “my dad is coming home,” with no British accent at all, like we’re all just Kevin Costner now.
And then it was casting someone other than Brad Pitt in his prime as Achilles. At least that’s what I’ve heard. I don’t know if the rumors are true yet. But seriously, Elliot Page? Exactly where does being transgender fit into Greek culture? What’s next? Gay art all over their pottery? Fauns with giant penises in the credits?
And now here comes this cyclops nonsense. There’s only one reason they put that in the trailer. To make the leftists happy. Pretty sure the cyclops is not even a main character. “But oh, let’s make a point to cast a person in this movie because they’re part of the cyclops community.”
Spare me the liberal tears. From both my non-cyclops eyes.
Monocular humans represent only about three percent of the human population. So why do we have to make such a big deal about one of the most important characters having a single eye? The answer is because Hollywood has gone too woke.
I have two functioning eyes, and so is pretty much every movie-goer. When will directors stop caring about agendas and start carting about what audiences want? I will not be insulted by this DEI trash.
I’m not going to let a politically compromised Chris Nolan “inception” me into being okay with this weak beta male sensitivity slop. I go to the movies to see visually non-impaired European men do visually non-impaired European things, not give out Academy awards for representation quotas.
If there’s one thing we can reasonably expect from a movie based on ancient mythology, it’s realism. The idea that a one-eyed man can be a threat to one of the greatest warriors in history is beyond absurd. How am I supposed to enjoy this? Woke is broke, especially if I boycott your handicapped-sensitive Oscar bait movie.
Call me an ableist all you want. But while you’re pretending you’ll actually go see this woke version of The Odyssey in theaters, I’ll be using both my two perfectly good eyes to rewatch 300, because it’s the only thing you can count on for historical accuracy these days.
