Gaslighting for God is Coming to LA This Sunday!

Join religious satirist and storyteller Becky Garrison for a conversation about her book Gaslighting for God: A Satirical Guide to Save Yourself from Spiritual Narcissists (Lake Drive Books, 2026). Learn how to not only survive but thrive during the US 2026 election cycle. In a world full of uncertainty, self-styled spiritual gurus join forces with partisan politicians to promote a faith-based form of salvation that’s godawful not godly. Garrison’s biting and hilarious exposé of how narcissism has become the unfortunate backbone of a politicized form of American spirituality. But this isn’t just a takedown — it’s a roadmap to escape toxic systems and find healthier, inclusive spaces for our lives going forward.

Garrison holds and MDiv/MSW from Yale Divinity School and Columbia University School of Social Work and is the author of nine books including the award winning Distilled in Washington: A History (The History Press, 2024) and Roger Williams’s Little Book of Virtues (Wipf & Stock, 2020). Her recent writing credits include work for Spirituality & Health, Only Sky, Religion Dispatches, Good Faith Media, Beverage Master/The Grapevine Magazine, Northwest Travel & Life, Edible Seattle, The Alcohol Professor, and SIP.
