Most people see Pakistan as our biggest enemy. And yes, they’ve caused plenty of trouble. But behind the scenes, China is the one quietly pulling the strings. China’s Game Plan: Keep Us Busy Without Fighting China knows something we often forget India is one of their biggest customers. Our phones, clothes, gadgets, and machines? They want us buying those more than they want a war. So instead of attacking directly, China keeps tensions simmering on the borders. They back Pakistan to keep India’s forces busy in the west, while their real focus is on the northeast Arunachal Pradesh. Why Arunachal? It’s all about the Tsangpo River which becomes the Brahmaputra when it enters India. This river starts in Tibet, which China controls. They’ve built dams upstream, and controlling that water means controlling millions of lives downstream. Water here isn’t just water it’s power. If China controls the flow, they could use it as a weapon in any future conflict. And Arunachal isn’t just about water. It gives China better access to the eastern Himalayas, higher ground for military advantage, and a way to disrupt India’s connection to the northeast. So, What Is India Doing? We’re not sitting idle. India has increased troop numbers and built roads and airstrips along the border to move faster and smarter. Projects like the Arunachal Frontier Highway ensure supplies reach troops in tough terrain. Satellites keep an eye on China’s dam-building, and we’re pushing for talks on water sharing at international platforms. On the ground, we’re investing in education and development in Arunachal because a strong local community is the best defence. Diplomatically, India is building ties with the US, Japan, Australia, and others to counter China’s influence. The UN and China’s Veto Power: Here’s a reality check: China holds veto power at the UN Security Council. That means they can block any move against their interests including India’s security concerns. India isn’t a permanent member yet, so we miss out on shaping major global decisions. That’s a huge disadvantage. Why Can’t We Just Stop Buying Chinese Stuff? Sounds easy, right? But it’s not. India still doesn’t make all the tech, electronics, and machinery that China floods the world with. Yes, we have the talent and resources. But here’s the uncomfortable truth too many young people chase quick-money jobs,delivery gigs, freelancing, even gambling apps are popular because they’re easy money. Meanwhile, kids in China under 15 are building drones, coding robots, and pushing AI forward. This isn’t just a career choice issue; it’s a mindset problem. Are we ready to put in the hard work to build something lasting? Or are we just looking for the fastest way to earn? If this doesn’t change, India will keep lagging behind in the tech that defines modern defence. If the next generation is focused on shortcuts, who will protect this country when it really matters? What About Our Defence Manufacturing? The US has Lockheed Martin, Russia has Sukhoi,huge companies making advanced jets, drones, and weapons. India? We don’t have a big manufacturer like that yet. We still import a lot. For a country with our size and potential, that’s a risk. What Needs to Change? • Invest heavily in defence tech -Drones, AI, Cyber warfare( the wars of tomorrow). • Make in India, Defence in India-build our own weapons and tech to cut imports. • Encourage innovation- get young people to invent, create, and dream big, not just chase quick money. • Be prepared for two fronts-from China and Pakistan. • Push for India’s permanent seat at the UN Security Council. • Build strong alliances like the Quad to keep China in check.
