New York, tech and trees

The streets of New York City buzzed with incessant noise, a kaleidoscope of endless shops, advertisements, and the constant hum of life. Cars zipped by, some even flying overhead, while kids glided on hoverboards, all emblematic of the city’s obsession with the latest technology.

I found a quiet spot on a bench, pulling out my Nexphone. I’ve always been an old-school Nex customer, their products are reliable, even if their smartphones leave something to be desired. Still, they suit me just fine.

As I scrolled through my feed, a sight in my peripheral vision caught my attention: a woman casually unscrewing her nose and fitting a different one from her purse. This was just another day in a world where cybernetics were as normal as fashion accessories.

Personally, I’ve never warmed to the idea of cybernetics or DNA modifications. The thought of having mechanical bits and bobs inside me just doesn’t sit right. The woman checked her new look in a small mirror, adjusted her hair, and walked past me, leaving me to my thoughts.

I pocketed my phone, stood up, and headed towards Central Park. Amidst all this technological advancement, I was thankful that we still cherished our trees.
