When I Returned to Allah, I Found Myself Again
Just like Dhul Hijjah, just like Day of Arrafah, a season filled with mercy and forgiveness, Umroh arrived in my life as a quiet invitation to begin again.

Sunrise in Medina (2 February 2026)
There are moments in life when you don’t realize how exhausted your soul has become until Allah opens a door that gently brings you back to Him. For me, that door came through Umroh.

Mecca, 3 February 2026
Just like Dhul Hijjah, just like Day of Arrafah, a season filled with mercy and forgiveness, Umroh arrived in my life as a quiet invitation to begin again. It came at a time when my heart felt distant, distracted by dunya, and overwhelmed by the weight of life itself. I didn’t know it then, but the journey would become something far deeper than an act of worship. It would become a journey back to myself.
Looking back at 2025, I can honestly say those years changed every part of me. From the outside, life looked normal. I smiled, talked, and carried on with my days like everyone else. But internally, I felt empty. I often described myself as a body moving without a soul inside it. I was living, but I didn’t understand why. I was walking, but I didn’t know where I was going.
There was a constant heaviness in my chest that I could never explain properly. Anxiety about the future followed me everywhere. My mind was loud all the time, yet my heart felt numb.
Then my brother brought up Umroh. It was my mother’s wish for us to go, and he insisted that we make it happen. So, in early 2026, we finally decided to go. To be honest, I went without many expectations. I thought I was simply fulfilling my mother’s wish and doing my ibadah like millions of other Muslims do every year.
But the moment I arrived, something shifted inside me.

I still cannot fully explain what I felt when I first stepped into Medina and Mecca. My heart pounded intensely, almost as if something heavy inside me had cracked open and rolled away. It was overwhelming in the gentlest way possible. I felt relieved, emotional, and strangely safe all at once. Even now, long after returning home, Medina and Mecca still lives inside me.
I once read a sentence that said rizq is not always about wealth or physical health. Sometimes, the greatest rizq Allah gives us is peace of mind and peace of heart. Before this journey, I never fully understood that. But in Medina, I finally did.
Before going there, my days were filled with endless worries about life and the future. My thoughts constantly raced ahead of me. Yet somehow, while being in that city, all of those anxieties became quiet. It felt as though the version of me that was always afraid simply didn’t exist there. For the first time in a very long time, my heart felt still. And honestly, I do not think I have ever found that kind of peace anywhere else.
Until today, whenever negative thoughts begin to consume me, I find myself remembering the atmosphere, the prayers, the softness I felt in my chest while being there. Sometimes memories can feel like warmth, and this journey became that warmth for me.

Throughout the journey, I kept reciting my prayers and pouring my heart out to Allah quietly. I prayed about things I had never spoken out loud before. I carried fears, exhaustion, disappointments, and hopes into every prayer.
When I returned home, life itself didn’t suddenly become perfect. Problems still existed. Responsibilities were still waiting for me. But somehow, everything felt lighter, softer, more manageable. It felt as though Allah had placed light back into parts of my heart that had gone dark for so long.
I don’t know if I can call Umroh my turning point. Maybe healing doesn’t always happen in one dramatic moment. Maybe sometimes healing comes quietly through prayers whispered in the middle of the night, through tears falling in sujood, through peace that enters your chest without asking permission.
