Review - Eizo Flexscan ev3895-bk

As in my last story promised, here a little more technical review of the Eizo Felxscan ev3895. This review is based on the four weeks daily use as DevOps software engineer and solution architect. Mainly i do technical documentation and coding in a distributed teams all over the world.

So far to my scenario, coding tools, devOps tools and lot different channels for communication.

For my work i not only use one laptop i need to switch between up to three sometimes. Of course i focus on work and keep strict rules not so switch between client to often a day, but i dont’t like plugging/plug-out devices.

Let’s start with the basic technical specs :

• Contrast 1000:1, brightness 300 cd/m2, 178° view- ing angle
• KVM switch and picture-by-picture support for up to three computers

My old display had resolution of full HD on 27", this was to less for me. Next i had no KVW switch, here it is already integrated, less cable chaos and a clean setup. Sitting couple of hours on front of the display each day/night i wanted a good brightness. At least i wanted it more ergonomic, i train my neck at the gym not at my home desk — see my other review.

What i like :

• KVM switch
• USB-C Loading

The display itself is awesome, the quality and the illumination is the the best i ever used. The resoultion of 3840 x 1600 Pixel is for me perfect and i see no dots oder lines. Next the color management, i am not pro photograph, but for my needs it is more than enough. It is “close” to my MacBook Pro.

All the cables are in the back and the cable management is really nicely made. I see no cables and the maintenance is really easy. I use all three KVM Ports and no worries and all cables are handelt perfect.

One more thing are the options to configure the KVM. It us possible to asigne each HDMI/USB-C/Displayports its own usb devices. Current i use only one keyboard and mouse for all three pc’s connected to the monitor. But other combinations are possible too. What i don’t use but smart, it the options to show on one display, all input sources — see picture by picture.

The KVW switch was for me killer feature and it works nearly perfect, only once it had a out take switching between the input sources. The speed to switch between the connected devices is fast. The 85Watt loading other the USB-C connection is working, while the main input source is an other device.

Using USB-C to connect to the KVM switch, using keyboard and mouse while loading other only one cable. Perfect.

What i don’t like :

• switches — no light

The switches are one a black background and no lights. This is a mess i have to deal with choosing the black frame. But without extra light it is a pain to finde the correct button. I would expect some LED to indicate the buttons, special with this price.

Next what is missing, a fast switch button, to change between the devices, one by one. Of course there is a source button, but you always have to confirm selection by pressing a second “Ok” button. (Update 02.Jan) I just have to select the source and wait one second, patience you need.

My Conclusion:

After over four months, i do not reget to get this awesome display. I will keep to it. But it is quite expensive, if you are more into gaming you should choose an other, if you are deep in photo editing you might find a better on.

For me as developer and solution architect, i love to work with this display. It has all I need, and even more.
