Love Comes With a Recognisable Feeling
Love — this beautiful, generous, every-present force — is the foundation of all that is harmonious, aligned and true for each one of us in our lives. It comes with a beautiful feeling, every single time. As such, it is highly recognisable. We know when we are in it because it feels peaceful, generous, open and good.
When we are ‘out of our minds’ we are away from Love: we have become lost in our thinking, lost in fear.
By contrast, when we are centred and at one, we are in our hearts, in Love, and in our right minds.
Both of these states — Fear and Love — are very different, and we can actually learn to differentiate them in the moment, in ways which begin to clarify and ease our daily lives.

In my daily life, I am in the process of understanding this difference. I find myself stopping and catching my thinking spiralling into negativity, as I suddenly remember that this isn’t how Love feels. And, this being so, perhaps I don’t need to listen to that which does not feel as Love feels?
There is a quality of feeling that comes with Love that is absent when I am engaged in negative, anxious and fearful thinking. This quality feels eminently trustworthy. It feels like home. It is reassuring, calm, clear and energised. I feel grounded and clear-sighted. I feel peaceful and strong. As I recognise the kindness of this feeling I find myself daring to give it centre-stage.
This is no small transition to make. For so many years it was the critical, loud voices in my head that I assumed I should heed. I am sure you know the ones I mean: compelling, authoritative, and urgent. There’s something about them that makes you feel you should ignore them at your peril. They often sound like the voices of our parents or teachers from childhood — the very cross versions of them!
I have come to learn, as the decades have gone by, that listening to this harsh thinking puts me under profound inner pressure. Trying to heed and please these inner critical voices — to better myself, to be perfect enough that they would cease — has never worked. The more I heed them the more they persist. And they pick away at the very foundations of me and my life — critical, fault-finding, unkind, judgmental.
The voice of Love — the feeling of Love — is not like this. It is sunlight, sea air, a gentle breeze. Kindness, grace, compassion. This voice comes as insight and knowing, arising on a wave of gentleness and understanding. It gives me — and others — the benefit of the doubt. It sees possibilities in scenarios that I can’t see a path through. It reminds me that this moment is unwritten, unscripted and light-infused, and that I only have to lean into this.

What happens when I dare to listen to this? Will it lead me astray? Will I end up being irresponsible, self-centred and disconnected from reality?
From what I have seen so far, it seems not — but more of this as we continue to explore further.
Would you care to join me? To begin to feel for and recognise a more loving voice within — to give it room to speak and let it guide you? To dare to let pass the critical, harsh and judgemental voices, the energies that are not Love?
Would you too like to take the risk to reach for something more loving within your being — and within the world at large — and see what happens?
