So, I’ve been doing a bit of self-assessment lately, and it’s become painfully clear, to me and probably anyone paying attention, that there’s so much more to life than the 9-to-5 grind. It’s been my main thing for the past five years, but honestly? No shade to corporate life, but what it’s become (especially here in Nigeria) just isn’t built to sustain humans in the real sense.

I mean, those rigid Monday-to-Friday timelines that barely leave room for living, paychecks that only stretch halfway through the month- that’s if you’re one of the lucky ones earning decently and weekends that end before they start. Then there’s the constant subtle competition to be “teacher’s pet”, or in this case, the boss’s favorite, pitting colleagues against each other. It’s just a lot of nuisance that comes with working under someone else’s rules, especially in the private sector.

I’ve worked corporate for over six years across different industries, and one thing’s been consistent- it’s a horrible feeling to always be at someone else’s mercy. People aren’t always kind, and no one’s really looking out for anyone. Only God changes that reality. Left to humans, we’re… not that awesome.

But enough about people, let’s talk about me and what I’m doing now.

I’ve decided to start showing up for myself, in small but intentional ways. Beginning now, I’m committing to writing and posting something every day for the rest of this year. I’ve never done anything like this before, you know, like actually committing and following through. Maybe that’s why I’m doing it publicly. Of course, we both know that doesn’t guarantee anything (it’s my page so I could delete this post tomorrow and poof ! It never happened).

Still, I’m serious about this. I’d really love your support in showing up to read and engage. Drop a reaction, leave a comment, or even just say “nice one” when something resonates. You’d be doing me a huge favor if you shared it too, but honestly, just being here would mean a lot.

I don’t yet know exactly what I’ll be writing about, but I can promise it’ll be honest, maybe funny, hopefully engaging. So come along as I explore this part of myself that’s always just been an idea. Let’s see what happens.
