I Search for You
In the darkness, gone forever

I search for you, I do not dare
to think that you may have gone forever; what would I be, a simple man, alone infinitely.
I look for you, you are not here.
I cannot find you anywhere I gaze, so I bury myself in another book, and turn the page.
Why have you gone, when might you return?
Must I now earn your gift, once given without a cost; how was it so recklessly lost?
In the darkness, I walk through mist.
I call you in my mind; I know I cannot find the path, through this place, alone.
In the darkness, I sit and rest,
consider the many hours your voice has kept me company; we shared a life between us, greater than time.
I wait in secret, and hope for your coming.
There is little else to do; why waste my effort on dreams and plans, that only distract, and cannot resurrect meaning?
As long as it takes, I will be still…
