Learning to Wait Inside God

A Southern Woman’s Lesson on Patience, Promise, and Pressure

Waiting is hard all by itself. Anybody who’s ever prayed for something, hoped for something, or held onto a promise knows that waiting can stretch you thin. But when God tells you something — when He reveals something to your spirit — that eagerness hits different.

You turn into a kid on Christmas morning, running around telling everybody, “You know what my Father got me?”

But then Christmas comes… and the tree gets stolen. Your gift disappears. Your excitement turns into bitterness. Your hope feels snatched.

And you sit there wondering, “Lord… what happened?”

But then — two months later — you receive the very gift you thought was gone forever. Not wrapped. Not under a tree. Just sitting there at the breakfast table like, “Good morning, I’m here.”

Your heart jumps. Your spirit dances. You feel joy bubbling up like a pot of greens on Sunday. Breathing heavily because that was a lot to go through, but overjoyed that it’s finally here.

But here’s the real question: What happened during those two months?

Did you forget the promise? Or did you just accept the situation as it looked?

Most of us let doubt creep in. Most of us let distance settle between us and God. ( I’m talking about me) Most of us start believing the delay means denial.

But what if the lesson isn’t to wait on God… What if the lesson is to wait in God?

Because when you wait in Him, storms don’t blow you off course. When you wait in Him, stolen trees don’t steal your faith. When you wait in Him, you stop panicking over timing and start trusting His character.

I know what God promised me — and I feel it coming. But now I’ve learned how to wait. And baby, I don’t mind waiting anymore.

My whole life has been God showing up and showing out. Not always early. Not always how I expected. But always right on time.

“But seek first the kingdom of God…” That’s the foundation. That’s the posture. That’s the waiting place.

And from that place, every promise finds you — even if it has to show up at the breakfast table.

Your work in progress,

Josh
