Hello and good afternoon! Even though it’s still autumn, this week certainly felt like winter with snow and ice in the forecast. It’s not just for northern areas either — this morning, snow flurries have been moving across the Southwest as an area of low pressure slowly sweeps toward Europe, bringing snow to parts of Devon and Cornwall. A snow warning has been issued until early this afternoon, and this will gradually move across the south later in the day. However, snow showers will continue to affect exposed coasts in the north and northwest of Scotland, as well as parts of Northern Ireland, northwest England, and northern Wales. The Met Office has issued snow and ice warnings, so be sure to stay updated on our website.
Away from the snow showers, there will still be plenty of autumnal sunshine, but you’ll need to wrap up warm as temperatures will only reach around 5°C today, making it another chilly and cold day. As we head into the evening, the snow and ice warnings remain in place, and snow showers will continue to feed into northwestern coasts, particularly in England, Wales, and parts of Scotland. Under clear skies, it will get colder with a sharp frost, and while most of the snow will be confined to higher ground, some flurries may reach lower levels as well. It looks like another cold night with frost and icy patches expected by tomorrow morning.
For Friday, snow and ice warnings are still in effect, with a chance of more snow showers, mainly along exposed coasts in northwestern areas like parts of Scotland, Northern Ireland, northern England, and northern Wales. Once again, though, away from the snow showers, you can expect more autumn sunshine, though it will still feel chilly, with highs around 5°C, slightly higher in the southwest.
Looking ahead to the weekend, we’re expecting another unsettled spell of weather, with snow still a possibility, as well as heavy rain and strong winds. Warnings are already in place, so don’t forget to stay updated on our website and social media channels to ensure you never miss an update.
Take care and goodbye for now!
