Censorship in Europe

The biggest surprise about London so far is how Big-Brotherish it’s become (and Europe at large). For example I learned today that online pornography, and most other online sexual content, is inaccessible to the vast majority of people. This actually is an accident because most European countries, not just the UK (and apparently 23 US States) passed strict age requirements for pornography, so that 13 year old Will can’t just pick up his phone and get on Pornhub. I guess the old pre-internet day rite of passage of a male sneaking his first porno mag at 12 or 13 is now sacrilege, they’ll have to learn about sex from…health class? Except maybe that’s banned too. I guess it’s part of the whole anti-social media campaign trend as well. But whatever you think of that, there’s no effective way to prove the Pornhub etc. watcher is of age, so they basically blocked it off for everyone. You can get around it with a VPN, but isn’t that what you need to do in…China? Another example perhaps of how our allies are choosing our enemies over us. Also, the Wifi of a restaurant asked me to consent to giving them my phone info and the websites I visited. Shocked, I declined and didn’t use it. Would you??Finally, I asked transit directions of a very attractive and intelligent brown woman on the Underground and she ended up giving me great, detailed advice on things to do around the city. I probably should have gotten her contact info or even asked if she would show me around — I’m pretty sure she would have, considering she not only gave me her school, profession, name etc. but, unsolicitedly, spelled her name for me — but since I was surrounded by posters warning about the dangers of older men duping teen girls, I hesitated since I’m almost 45 and she’s probably 25 — I mean I’ll be hanging out with people even younger (and much older) than that on this trip — I cast a very wide net of friends — but I went safe yet again, and I’ll probably never see her again. Could have been the one, but another one bites the dust! Well at least we still have the relational complexities of the old European art reflect in the British Museum, which I cruised in 3 hours! #censorship #europe #art #london #wifi
