When the Beast Returns: Grappling With Brock Lesnar, WWE, and My Own Story

Lesnar’s WWE comeback stirred more than hype — it cracked open a flood of curiosity, unease, and reflection.

Just when I thought SummerSlam Night Two was over, I watched the screen light up.

The music hit. The camera panned. And he walked out.

After the ending, I came back to reality and realized that I’m now forced to confront a flurry of emotions I hadn’t expected. Excitement. Disappointment. Curiosity; my mind getting weary from all the processing. 😮‍💨

I Hit Post, Then Delete

Just mere hours ago, I filmed a reaction video, edited it, and scheduled it to be posted on 𝕏. At 2:38 am, I had second thoughts. Right after Night Two, I posted something on 𝕏. Then I deleted it.

Not because I didn’t mean the things I intended to post, but because I didn’t know how I meant it. I didn’t have the proper language for the swirling feelings. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to say the “wrong” thing. And to be honest, part of me didn’t want to say anything at all and just post.

But silence, in moments like this, is a choice, and not the one I want to keep making.

What I mean by that is I tend to overthink — a lot. So much so that it paralyzes me into silence.

Not anymore. 🙅🏾‍♀️

Wrestling Isn’t Just Wrestling

If you’re reading this, you’re probably a member of the IWC. If not, that’s okay too — welcome, and for context, IWC stands for Internet Wrestling Community.

To the fans and even those stumbling upon this blog, wrestling isn’t just about matches and belts. It’s about the stories, which can evoke emotions and influence catharsis.

So when someone like Brock Lesnar returns — not just a superstar, but one with such a controversial story — it hits differently for different people. For some, it’s nostalgia. For others, it’s disgust. For me… It’s complicated.

Very complicated.

The Return of Power, Violence, and Memory

Let me be blunt: There are unresolved allegations that still surround Lesnar’s legacy. Watching him return isn’t just a return to the ring — it’s a reminder of how power is often unchecked in wrestling and beyond.

And yet… I watched the SummerSlam Night Two ending. I wanted to see, and now, I want to understand what I’m feeling.

That duality — of being triggered and fascinated, repulsed and intrigued — isn’t easy to sit with. But it’s real, especially for someone like me, who has experienced SA-related trauma in the past. Wrestling sometimes seems to mirror real life, and real life stings.

Why I’m Choosing to Speak

I chose this path of media, commentary, and community-building to be creative and thought-provoking. I knew that meant holding space for other fans, but I didn’t realize it would also mean holding space for myself.

I didn’t realize how important it would be to say: “I don’t have it all figured out. This is messy. This is raw (pun intended), but I’m still here.” At least not in this avenue.

To the IWC: Let’s Keep It 💯

Some of you will understand my feelings and approach. Some of you won’t. Some of you may be thinking, “Just watch the show and shut up.”

But I’m discovering that wrestling is not a show sometimes.

For some, it’s been a lifeline because of the talent. WWE Superstars like Rhea Ripley have deeply inspired fans, myself included. And if I feel this way, I have to show up truthfully, even when it’s uncomfortable.

Final Thoughts: Wrestling With Myself

I don’t know where this road leads with Brock’s return. I don’t know how I’ll feel tomorrow, but I do know that I’m still enjoying the products that WWE is putting out. That could change over time as more things unfold. 🤷🏾‍♀️

But today, I’m choosing honesty over perfection. I’m choosing to be messy, public, and authentic. I’m choosing to embrace what wrestling has stirred up in me.

I always say that my mess can be someone’s message.

If you feel the same way right now, you’re not alone.

We’re all just trying to make sense of this wild, wonderful, chaotic, problematic thing we deeply appreciate and enjoy that is WWE’s version of sports entertainment.
