Once upon a (very) long ago In what seems another lifetime… The exciting world of cartoons Was infinitely (& joyously) mine!
Saturday mornings I would watch While eating breakfast of cold cereal Life couldn’t get better (I thought)— My needs (then) were so “material” 😉…
Bugs Bunny on the TV screen Rice Krispies — Snap — Krackle & Pop Sweet Tweety Bird & Sylvester My God, their antics never stopped!
Elmer Fudd & little Porky Pig? The “chase” between them always on! Poor Elmer never had a chance — Cause Porky was the smarter one!
I always dreamed maybe one day Could I write my own cartoon stories? Join Marvin the Martian on Mars? Fly in his spaceship? Fight for glory?
Pen some new plots for YosemiteSam? Write some “Varmint catching” 101? Dance circles around a Tasmanian Devil? Dash around like him? Have some fun?
I guess all that wishing didn’t make it so But maybe I’ve gotten halfway there Writing on Medium about loving Cartoons Getting (some?) smiles &/or disapproving stares?
Oh please don’t dare tell me to grow up! Because I’ve done that much (I’m sure!) I just don’t think the day will ever come When I don’t love ♥️cartoons anymore!
Cartoons? They rock in a world unsteady A world (often) filled with misery & pain! Yet if people can still laugh at cartoons? Well? I think there’s hope for joy again 🙌🏽!
Keep on laughing folks! Don’t let the world get so heavy That it begins to drag you down! Don’t you know?
All the world 🌎 is a circus 🎪! And every circus? Simply must have clowns 🤡!

I’m part of the “older generation” so I’m partial to “Looney Tunes” cartoons.
I kind of lost track of all the newer cartoons I used to watch — with my (now grown up) daughters — in the 80’s & 90’s. Some of those newer ones were great — some were just awful 😣
Lots of folks (now) look back on the older cartoons & say there was too much violence? But my sister & I? We just saw the humor — funny & impossible situations that made us crack up!
Even now — at my age — they still make me giggle a little (who am I kidding? They make me laugh out loud 😂!)
