General summary of the AP course!
Here’s a roundup of the AP courses that will take place in May 2024!
What is AP?
AP, short for Advanced Placement, is a program that provides students with university-level courses offered at high schools in the United States.
Students who are targeting colleges in the U.S. and Canada can complete AP classes at school and take the AP Subject Tests, which are favorable for college entrance. The AP Exam is held annually in May and is open to anyone regardless of grade. Rated 1–5, 1 is the lowest score and 5 is the highest.
Why should we take the AP?
The AP program is administered by the College Board, and students can earn college credit if they pass the AP exam. Most U.S. universities award credits to students who perform well on the AP exam, so they can take higher-level classes and earn credits early in college.
Students who take AP classes and pass the exam successfully can gain an upper hand in college admissions. College admissions officers acknowledge that students have completed advanced classes and passed difficult tests, which can be seen as an important factor in demonstrating a student’s academic competence and passion, and thus an increasing number of students are looking to take AP courses every year.

What are the most AP subjects that students choose?
The following chat is showing the 1st to 10th preferences of AP subjects in November 2023.

AP English Language and Composition is a core required subject in American universities, and many are applying because it helps improve their communication and writing skills. AP United States History is recognized as an important subject in college entrance and social science field, so many American students are hoping to apply.
English and history subjects have a vast range of tests and many things to memorize, so it is important to invest time to study carefully.
Starting in 2024, the AP Precalculus test is expected to be an easy test for ninth graders to prepare for. It may feel difficult because it’s your first time taking the test, but you can think of it as the basic version of Calculus AB!
According to the College Board, Human Geography is most often taken in ninth grade, World History and Computer Science Principles are in tenth grade, and English Language, U.S. History, Psychology, and Science subjects are most often taken in eleventh grade.
What is the difficulties for each AP subject?
The picture below is a chart showing the percentage of students who passed AP courses in 2023!
The color of the circle represents the acceptance rate of the AP test, red indicates a low acceptance rate, green indicates a high acceptance rate, and brown indicates an average acceptance rate.
The size of the circle is showing how many students take the test in that AP class. In 2023, the most-tested AP was English (568,000 applicants) and followed by History (473,000 applicants).
The subject with the red outline is one that more than 15 percent of students said they would not recommend the class to other students. These subjects are Seminar, Physics 1 and 2 (especially Physics C is recommended over Physics 1 and 2), English Literature and Music Theory.
Some AP classes like foreign languages (Spanish Literature, French, Italian Language & Culture, Latin, German, and Japanese), or courses in the Art & Design programmes (2D and 3D Art & Design, Drawing) are not in the chart because there is not enough data from the students who took the test.

Through the reviews of those who took the AP course, the picture below shows the top 10 easiest AP courses and the top 10 most difficult AP courses. Please refer to AP Course Selection!
Top 10 easiest AP cleases
