“It’s Okay” by BTOB is definitely my go-to self-affirmation song.

Released in 2015, “It’s Okay” is a title track for BTOB’s first full-length studio album titled “Complete” that received a positive respond from both casual listeners and fans. The song was a remark of BTOB’s genre diversion, being the group’s first R&B Ballad title track. The song heavily dwell on the theme of hardships and it is okay. It is okay if you are tired, it is okay to rest, it is okay to feel sad. It is okay.

It’s okay, it’s okay, it’s okay,

You will do well,

I believe in you.

While it might looks like usual words, the lyrics for this song reflects to the circumstances of BTOB at that time, where even though the group has various achievement since their debut on 2012, they did not have a top charting song and have not received their first music show win. Surprisingly, “It’s Okay” the song that tells the story of hardships and affirmation, brought the group to top the chart in 2015 which later on the same year brought their first music show win with another affirmation song (we will get on that song too someday).

What am I doing? No, what should I be doing? It’s an answerless echo

Amidst countless love songs in the K-Pop industry, the lyrics of this song touches a lot of concerns that people went through, such as tired of chasing dreams, struggling to live monotonous days, feeling alone, unemployed, getting fired, and the worse; not knowing what you are doing nor what you should be doing. However, the chorus sums up the important part,

Look forward to the melody you liked The voice that flow out of the radio The only thing I can do is to sing the lyrics of this song Even if things are hard, It’s okay, it’s okay, it’s okay You will do well, I believe in you.

It is hoped that through a song — this song — you will find ease, feel okay and affirms you despite all the concerns you have, in line with the lyrics. While it might takes an effort to understand the song if you did not understand Korean, the melody of the song itself is very easy-listening and have a soothing feel to it, plus the amazing vocal of BTOB members and the only English lyrics in this song ‘I believe in you’ already make a statement; it leads you to believe in yourself too.

This song is almost over — But there’s still a lot I haven’t said Everyone probably feels the same, right?

Lastly, I decided to write this because this song is played on my Spotify shuffle when I myself was not feeling okay at all, and I remembered how much I love this song back when this song was out so I decided to play this on repeat. While listening, I feel at ease. I realized that I am not the only one struggling. I know that many has gone through what I went through, and that it is okay to feel this way because it will all pass too. I have so many concerns that I wanted to share, but for now, I know I will be okay, I will do well, and I believe in myself.
