“The Buddha said to Ananda: ‘In the worlds of the ten directions, the heavenly beings and humans who sincerely vow to be reborn in that land are divided into three levels. ‘“

The Path of the Highest Level

Those of the Highest Level of Rebirth leave their homes, abandon worldly desires, and become Shramanas (monastic practitioners). They give rise to the supreme Bodhi-mind (the resolve for universal awakening), single-mindedly and exclusively concentrate on reciting the name of Amitayus Buddha (the Buddha of Infinite Life), cultivate various merits, and vow to be reborn in that land.

The Auspicious Fruit of Liberation

When these sentient beings approach the end of their lives, Amitayus Buddha, along with a vast assembly of holy beings, will manifest directly before them. They will immediately follow the Buddha and attain rebirth in His land.

Upon arrival, they will:

• Spontaneous Transformation: Be born spontaneously from within a lotus flower made of the seven jewels (Saptaratna).
• Non-Retrogression: Dwell permanently in the stage of Avaivartika (non-retrogression from absolute enlightenment).
• Perfect Qualities: Gain fierce, supreme wisdom and unhindered spiritual powers.

The Ultimate Exhortation

“Therefore, Ananda! If there are sentient beings who wish to see Amitayus Buddha in this present lifetime, they should give rise to the supreme, unsurpassed Bodhi-mind, cultivate merits and virtues, and vow to be reborn in that land.”
