Next week, on November 4, the biggest Java Conference of the Netherlands will take place. We at ABN AMRO are very excited to go to a physical J-Fall again this year! We can’t wait to learn a lot and meet you at our ABN AMRO booth. You will find us near room 8 with our booth and, yes, you have to come by. Why? We are giving some great LEGO prices away! How can you win LEGO?

The ABN AMRO booth is near room 8 and we are giving some great LEGO prices away. There are multiple LEGO prices and they are really awesome LEGO sets! The big price is the LEGO Star Wars Millennium Falcom Ultimate Edition (7500+ parts)! Next to that, you can win the LEGO Bugatti Chiron or a LEGO Nintendo Entertainment System.

How? Probably some skill tests, you think. No, it is much easier! We distribute ABN AMRO Event cards that have an NFC chip. Try to get your hands on one and come to our booth to activate this card. After activating you will see on the big screen if you won one of these prices. These ABN AMRO Event cards can also be used on your mobile phone. Try it out!

Impact the world with your IT knowledge using LITTIL (08:00, Room 4)

In room 4, at 08.00 Koen Aerts is presenting project LITTIL from the charity foundation Devoxx4Kids. ABN AMRO’s Eddy Vos is the Product Owner of this project and will assist Koen in telling the story of how we could support schools in learning kids IT and how project LITTIL can make a huge impact.

Developing with your eyes closed (10:35, Room 5)

In room 5, at 10.35 our developer Mitchel Snel is on stage with an interesting talk. Keeping track of a specific piece of code in a labyrinthine java project can be very difficult even with multiple screens in front of you. Now imagine that you are blind and you have to do that with only a computer voice whispering in your ear what is currently under the cursor.

Your awareness is no bigger than one line and yes, that includes all those commends you left behind for yourself as reminders and all the code lines you commented out because a better solution came along. No easy access to indentation levels, no easy scrolling through large amount of texts, and of course no handy collars on the screen to guide you on your quest to that one specific error that is blocking your execution. This is how a blind person develops software using their ears instead of their eyes.

This presentation will explore java code in new and interesting ways where hotkeys are the name of the game and java code gets a new audible dimension. So sit back, give your eyes a rest, open your ears and discover an IT world where sight is optional and your mouse can be left behind.
