Was It a Sign? Seven years. That was how long it had been since I last spoke to my father. The call came unexpectedly from an old friend in my hometown. His father had once been connected to mine, and through that old connection, a message reached me. My grandmother was dying. The moment I heard the news, an image flashed through my mind. The night before, the ceiling light in my room had suddenly fallen without explanation. At the time, I dismissed it as an accident. Now, it felt like a warning. I rushed to the hospital. When I arrived, I saw something I never expected to see again. My father. My mother. My older brother. My younger brother. For the first time in seven years, my broken family was standing in the same room. It felt unreal. Almost as if someone had gathered us there for a reason. My grandmother lay in bed wearing an oxygen mask, barely conscious. I had not seen her since leaving her house years earlier. But the moment she recognized me, tears began to stream down her face. She could no longer speak. Neither of us had the chance to say goodbye. Just minutes after I arrived, she quietly passed away. Looking back now, I sometimes wonder. Did my grandmother bring us together one final time before she left this world? Or was it simply a coincidence?
