Ukraine makes surprise devestating attack deep within Rossian Boarders

Ukraine unleashed an attack on Russian Air Base Targets deep within the borders of Russia on Sunday, a day before talks between the two countries were to resume. That said, Russia was only planning to send a low-level representative of Purin. The massive drone attack was perhaps Ukraine’s counter attempt to dramatize how Putin has continued attacks even through the peace talks.

The massive drone attack was perhaps Ukraine’s counter attempt to dramatize how Putin has continued attacks even through the peace talks.

DAMAGE SIGNIFICANT

“At a time when Putin seems to think that he is winning on the battlefield, this demonstrates that his forces are in fact very vulnerable,” said Sven Biscop, a director at the Egmont Institute, a think tank in Brussels. “This may not change the course of the war, but it does mean that every gain Russia makes will be at high cost.” He added it was “quite amazing” that “a significant part of their bomber force” could “be destroyed like that.”

Ukraine’s Security Service says that 40 Russian bombers deep inside Russian territory. It would be one of the largest and most significant attacks on Russian territory. It becomes an embarrassment to Putin — underscoring the venerability of his military.

It is not immediately clear what the official line will be from the United States, but recent indications from some NATO members was to express the view that Ukraine was longer limited staying close to home and that taking the military action deeper into Russia itself was perhaps desirable since Putin has stepped up bombing civilian targets and killing many Ukrainian civilians.

No doubt efforts will be made to get the United States to attempt to rein Ukraine in and prevent any further damage to Russia’s means of bombarding Ukrainian cities with long range missiles. This will make future comments from President Trump or other State Department officials interesting to say the least.

Sources within the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) told NBC News that the country targeted “41 strategic Russian aircraft” in an offensive operation code-named “Spiderweb.”

The operation appears to be a well-planned attack that was kept under wraps and having the advantage of an element of surprise. One target was Belaya air base in Russia’s Irkutsk region, located in Siberia, nearly 3,000 miles from Ukraine giving an idea just how deep into Russia Ukraine was able to do significant damage to military hardware.
