⚓️BIBLE REFERENCE: Joshua 9:7-15 (AMP) [7] But the men of Israel said to the Hivites, “Perhaps you are living within our land; how then can we make a covenant (treaty) with you?”

[8] They said to Joshua, “We are your servants.” Then Joshua said to them, “Who are you, and where do you come from?”

[9] They said to him, “Your servants have come from a country that is very far away because of the fame of the Lord your God; for we have heard the news about Him and all [the remarkable things] that He did in Egypt,

[10] and everything that He did to the two kings of the Amorites who were beyond the Jordan, to Sihon the king of Heshbon and to Og the king of Bashan who lived in Ashtaroth.

[11] So our elders and all the residents of our country said to us, ‘Take provisions for the journey and go to meet the sons of Israel and say to them, “We are your servants; now make a covenant (treaty) with us.” ’

[12] This bread of ours was hot (fresh) when we took it along as our provision from our houses on the day we left to come to you; now look, it is dry and has turned to crumbs.

[13] These wineskins which we filled were new, and look, they are split; our clothes and our sandals are worn out because of the very long journey [that we had to make].”

[14] So the men [of Israel] took some of their own provisions [and offered them in friendship], and [foolishly] did not ask for the counsel of the Lord.

[15] Joshua made peace with them and made a covenant (treaty) with them, to let them live; and the leaders of the congregation [of Israel] swore an oath to them.

MESSAGE In the justice system of God, that someone is poor does not excuse him from receiving the full punishment for his sins. The Mercy of The Lord is not selective, favouring the poor over the rich. No God does not hate the rich, He would hate Himself if that was the case; Impossible! Ezekiel 18:4 He Says; "Behold (pay close attention), all souls are Mine; the soul of the father as well as the soul of the son is Mine. The soul who sins will die." The Lord does not pity poor sinners and destroy wealthy sinners, NO! There is no favouritism, partiality or special recognitions with God! This is one major tool used by tbe devil to deceive unsuspecting men and women of God; the demonic kind of deceit called pity!

Take a look at how they sold their sub-story to the Israelites. The hot, trained and ready-to-kill Israelites led by Joshua, dropped their defences and even quickly entered a Covenant with the men of Gibeon on account of pity. This is why it is very dangerous to be given to emotions, positive or negative as the enemy can use it as a tool against you. This is why The Holy Spirit warns through Apostle Peter in 1 Peter 5:8; "Be sober [well balanced and self-disciplined], be alert and cautious at all times. That enemy of yours, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion [fiercely hungry], seeking someone to devour." Our memory verse houses such a very Powerful lesson! The very next verse that follows it, Isaiah 11:4 says; "But with righteousness and justice He will judge the poor, And decide with fairness for the downtrodden of the earth; And He shall strike the earth with the rod of His mouth, And with the breath of His lips He shall slay the wicked."

It's good to be good but unless The Holy Spirit determines the expression of your goodness, it can be recorded as evil, wickedness, before God. The devil does "good" things too you know! The Blessings of The Lord makes rich and add no sorrow, simply implies that the devil also has blessings with of course, enough sorrow to last and shorten a lifetime. Natural wisdom says that the best way to judge is by hearing the person out but, The Wisdom of God calls it the most foolish way. How do you know he is not lying? How do you know he is telling the truth? Because he said so, shed some tears and showed some evidence? How many people have falsified so much, even their tears? Can you see how fickle our instruments of judgment are?

🎺CALL: No, the rich man in Luke 16:19-31 was not sent to hell because he had too much money; Lazarus also didn't make Heaven because he was poor but because of their works! It is equally as bad excusing a man of his sins because of his wealth as it is for his poverty. There's a reason our Lord Jesus is as much a lion as he is a lamb in His Character! A lion that refuses to hunt would become a cheap prey to the enemy. In this jungle of a world, survival of the fittest is the order of the day! For example, how can a minister negotiate with a demon?

You cannot make a deal with the devil! Once you know it is the devil, then your assignment is only one; violence! Complete, Total, Full-blown, Unreserved violence! Haven't you read that you should not give any room to the devil? Being nice to a fault will take you nowhere! Your inability to say no to that wrong being done to you only gives them more freedom to destroying you! Demons cannot repent sir, they are doomed! Some humans also have joined themselves to the devil. Only one assignment we have for the unrepentant agents of the devil; eliminate! Hand them over to their master; the devil! The major problem Joshua had was not them being nice but that they didn't ask The Lord first before entering into a Covenant with the Gibeonites. Pity clouded their judgment and reason! It's time to get rid of the demon called pity! You will never be deceived to pity anyone again to your destruction, in Jesus Mighty Name!

🫵🏿BRIDGE: Do you know how many professional beggars are out there now? The primary demon sponsoring them is pity! Sir even when we pass through difficulties, we are not ordained to be pitied but envied! Mention one place in the Scriptures that our Lord Jesus embraced pity? What you are looking for is the original version of pity called compassion. Oh how great compassion is! While pity is primarily either negative or neutral, compassion can only be positive. A man can pity someone and do nothing for the person to help. Compassion on the other hand, is a Divine Gift wielded by The Lord Himself. Compassion is not borne out of freshly desires but by The Holy Spirit Himself. The Bible in Matthew 14:14; "When He went ashore, He saw a large crowd, and felt [profound] compassion for them and healed their sick." Compassion is God's Love at its peak! Pity on the other hand, is simply a milder form of condemnation, the devil's tool! Anyone who uses the devil's tool becomes his fool! Rather than pity ourselves, The Holy Spirit instructs us to give thanks (1 Thessalonians 5:18). Now, let David's heart cry in Psalms 42:1-11 be our heart-cry as we let go of every form of self-pity; "As the deer pants [longingly] for the water brooks, So my soul pants [longingly] for You, O God. My soul (my life, my inner self) thirsts for God, for the living God. When will I come and see the face of God? My tears have been my food day and night, While they say to me all day long, “Where is your God?” These things I [vividly] remember as I pour out my soul; How I used to go along before the great crowd of people and lead them in procession to the house of God [like a choirmaster before his singers, timing the steps to the music and the chant of the song], With the voice of joy and thanksgiving, a great crowd keeping a festival. Why are you in despair, O my soul? And why have you become restless and disturbed within me? Hope in God and wait expectantly for Him, for I shall again praise Him For the help of His presence. O my God, my soul is in despair within me [the burden more than I can bear]; Therefore I will [fervently] remember You from the land of the Jordan And the peaks of [Mount] Hermon, from Mount Mizar. Deep calls to deep at the [thundering] sound of Your waterfalls; All Your breakers and Your waves have rolled over me. Yet the Lord will command His lovingkindness in the daytime, And in the night His song will be with me, A prayer to the God of my life. I will say to God my rock, “Why have You forgotten me? Why do I go mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?” As a crushing of my bones [with a sword], my adversaries taunt me, While they say continually to me, “Where is your God?” Why are you in despair, O my soul? Why have you become restless and disquieted within me? Hope in God and wait expectantly for Him, for I shall yet praise Him, The help of my countenance and my God." The antidote for pity is therefore thanksgiving, can we cry out for freedom from pity?

🔥PRAYER POINT: My Father, I Thank You for sending Your Word to me today. Lord Jesus, please break me free from the bondage of pity now and forever in Jesus Mighty Name!
