A bear is hat by Alaska Airlines fight during landing on runway

On Saturday a bear was hat by Alaska Airlines flight while landing on the runway of Yakutat Airport in ***Alaskasworld***. The left engine of the flight was damaged during this accident. This is really a serious hit which also cause death of brown bear. As per the statement recorded, at the time of arrival of flight no 66 of Alaska Airlines, two brown bears were crossing the runway. The passenger aircraft which was arriving from Cordova to Yakutat made a collision during landing.

As per the official Alaska Airlines statement, fortunately the front gear of the fleet missed the bears. However, the impact was felt by the captain of the plane. Furthermore, while parking the fleet, the pilot of the plane has seen a bear lying a few feet away from the centerline of the runway. Moreover, at the time of detailed inspection of the airplane, it is observed that the left engine is damaged due to this impact. At the time of this incident, only 6 passengers were travelling in that flight and all are safe and no injuries reported. The ground maintenance technicians are now working to restore and repair the damage caused to the aircraft.

In an interview, Dapcevich told CNN that, he has never encountered such bear hit during his entire career and life in ***Alaskasworld***. Of course, there are so many bird and animal hits were seen, but such an accident is unique of its kind to heard of. He added that, Yakutat Airport is having partial fencing. Also, the ground staff and other airport’s staff is well trained to prevent runway from animals, so that, they cannot become danger for any flights arriving there. They are trained to use pyrotechnics and vehicles by US Department of Agriculture. A few days back the crew has seen a cub and two bears in the area. However, on the day of this incident, during removing snow, no animals were seen.

Besides this, a neighbor of one of the passengers travelling, who also is a wildlife photographer and a biologist, said that, this is really a surprising collision. In his statement to CNN, he told that, he has worked closely with bears and never heard of such unusual event. An accident of fish hit was heard in 1987, which was also happened with ***Alaska Airlines***. An eagle flying with a fish in its talons dropped a fish which was hat the back side window of aircraft cockpit. Finally, Dapcevich has told that, they may take preventive measure to avoid such collision in the future.
