SEI investments in details

Let’s check out SEI investments in details… Who invested, when invested, how much invested. This is not ICO/IDO when investments are number 1 research parameter. But still, this is very interesting, and we need to know that in terms of chances for success of the project. Higher investments = higher chance to succeed for project.

Before start, let’s clarify about types of investments. There are two types:

1. SEI investment
2. SEI ecosystem investment.

Sei investment = is when they invest straight in the SEI, money for the project owners, funders, devs etc.

Sei ecosystem investment = is when they invest in some projects in the SEI network/creating funds which can be used to give grants in the ecosystem/giving money for the SEI team, but which they need to spend on the ecosystem.

Some people split those types. But for my personal opinion it has direct connection. How to grow blockchain? — Grow ecosystem of blockchain. When you want success, at the start you invest money in the blockchain, yes, but what afterwards? It does not matter how good or bad is your blockchain. The real thing which matter = ecosystem of blockchain. So, every investment in the SEI ecosystem for me is the same as investment in SEI. Both parties are benefited from each other.

SEI Network investments

At this moment, total investment is = $35.00 M

On the date 22.04.2023 there were two rounds:

1. Seed round, August 2022 = **$5.00 M
2. Strategic round, 11 April 2023 = $30.00 M.**

Who were the first and the old ones investors?

1. Multicoin Capital = LEAD investor
2. Flow traders
3. GSR Markets (GSR)

We can say huge thanks to that 3 companies! They made it happen, that now we are experiencing ultra-fast working SEI network (and ofc thanks to the developers).

Sadly, we can't know all the details about that investments, like how much each member invested or which exact conditions of investment they have. But we know that the main investor is Multicoin Capital.

This fund is really huge. Tier-1 fund with a lot of popular projects in their portfolio. You can be sure, these guys know what to do. Their place in the fund's top:

They already invested in the:

1. Ethereum
2. Aptos
3. Solana
4. Near
5. Algorand And more and more… These guys know what they are doing, and we are happy that they invested in the SEI network on the SEED round. Successful investment for sure!

Strategic round

In this round, other investments funds finally understood that SEI is a great investment opportunity, and they need to jump in! Second round was really bigger. 30 million dollars! BTW — imagine that developers of SEI have built such blockchain with just 5 million. Imagine how much they can do with such money? If we look at work done and investment amount, we can clearly understand, THESE guys KNOW what to do and what are they doing. I will not say any names, but some blockchains had investments like 5–10x from the SEI and their testnets work SO bad, like super worse than SEI. I love SEI, hope you're too!

Now we see one more TIER-1 fund — Coinbase Ventures. Good to know that more funds are coming in the SEI!

As I know, Multicoin Capital is still LEAD investor after strategic round. That means, that they really believe in the project and ready to invest more money.

SEI ecosystem investments

So these investments in the SEI ecosystem fund(as SEI call it in the twitter). Fund, which will be used to support new projects and dapps on the SEI blockchain. As, I said before, this is very important! Because if you want to have great and successful blockchain you need to build ecosystem for blockchain.

TOTAL investment now = $120.00 M.

Now, this a really huge amount of money! Some people still curious about SEI. But be sure, with such work from Devs and these investments SEI soon will be TIER-1 blockchain for sure. Let’s work and grow together!

October 14, 2022 — SEI team announces creation of Ecosystem fund, which will be used to develop and grow ecosystem of SEI. Support new dapps, developers or even support old dapps from other networks to move in the SEI ecosystem.(By the way, I hope everyone remembers that SEI is in the Cosmos ecosystem, so we can expect a lot of projects from other Cosmos blockchains, that will be huge for sure) Fund got a total of $50.00 M. January 4, 2023 — Ecosystem fund is supplied by $20.00 M from the MEXC(Singapore-based CEX) MEXC Ventures company. Funds will be used to support dapps on the SEI as well. Link to the post on the MEXC website.(Now we know, that SEI will be 100% listed on MEXC)

April 12, 2023 — Two more investment from the BITGET and Foresight Ventures with a total $50.00 M investment in the ecosystem fund. First investor is a popular CEX based on the Seychelles. And second project is an investment firm, aimed at the WEB3 projects (venture capital investor)

At this moment, I do not see actually any information about that money collected. From my experience, that money is used to support teams with dapps, which are coming to the SEI. Through that approach, SEI can make sure, that first dapps on the network will be high quality and properly build. Cuz even for the blockchain, first experience is very important. You do not want people to come to bad working and bad built projects.

We all waiting for the mainnet and only on mainnet we will see the actual power of that investments.
