Most People Aren’t Waiting for Answers. They’re Waiting for Guarantees.

People say they want clarity.

But that’s usually not true.

What they really want is certainty.

A guarantee that the relationship will work.

A guarantee that the business won’t fail.

A guarantee that the dream is worth pursuing.

A guarantee that the risk won’t hurt.

The problem is life never offers any of those things.

Jack realized this while watching a man finally leave the gas station.

The man had spent days trapped there.

Not because he couldn’t leave.

Because he wanted certainty before moving.

Eventually the cashier told him the only honest thing anyone could:

“What if nothing changes? What if it does?”

That’s not an answer.

It’s reality.

Most growth begins the moment people stop demanding guarantees.

Not because fear disappears.

Because they finally move despite it.

And maybe that’s what courage really is:

Acting without certainty.

Part of an ongoing philosophical fiction series about loneliness, truth, and the roads people take to escape themselves.
