Trump Broke the Deep State — But at What Cost?
Over 300,000 Black women lost their jobs in the first half of 2025; however, the country's GDP decreased by 1%.

And the bigger question is, will the deep state rebuild, because there is nothing significant to replace it?
The numbers don’t lie. The U.S. economy took a 1% hit to GDP, translating to a $37 billion loss. And while a 1% drop might sound small, in economic terms, it’s the equivalent of an earthquake rattling the foundation of the entire country.
Here’s the math. The average contribution of a worker to the GDP depends on the industry, but even with conservative estimates, the removal of hundreds of thousands of working-age women means fewer paychecks, fewer taxes collected, and less spending in local economies. Every dollar they didn’t earn is a dollar that didn’t get spent at grocery stores, gas stations, restaurants, or rent payments. That money will never circulate.
These 300,000 Black women held jobs in healthcare, social services, and the Department of Education. When these jobs disappeared, so did the stability of neighborhoods that relied on their income and leadership. (Now do you understand the National Guard being called into Washington, D.C.?)
And then there’s the looming question: Will the so-called “deep state” rebuild itself? Because if the old infrastructure is gone and nothing of equal strength is put in its place, the gap will be filled, but not necessarily by something better. History tells us that what rushes in can sometimes be worse than what was torn down.
Political moves that look like victories in the short term can turn into slow-burning paybacks over time. Removing entrenched systems without a transition plan may win applause in the moment, but it also leaves the country vulnerable. (Did I spell vulnerable right? If so, it's a first. lol)
So yes, the deep state may be fractured. But the cost is already showing up in lost jobs and falling GDP.
My prayer is that the U.S. economy can withstand massive job losses and keep right on ticking. When employment runs out for these women and other government workers across the nation, will the economy be able to handle the downturn?
This is why the labor report has become so important.
Well, that’s it for me today. I’m retired, traveling the world slowly and watching the country I love from afar. If I could have afforded to watch the sea from my living room while retired, I would not have left! (Why live in poverty when you have options?)
Until I write again, over and out. In Peru, looking out over the Pacific Ocean. My rent is under $550 a month. Sure, it’s a studio, but it's clean, modern, and the view is priceless.
