After months of development, we are excited to announce that Inventory Optimizer is now open source (MIT License) on GitHub.
This is, to the best of my knowledge, the first comprehensive open-source functional module for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations focused on real-world MRP and inventory intelligence.
A native D365FO suite that helps Demand Planners, MRP Super Users, and Inventory Controllers move from reactive firefighting to proactive, intelligent supply chain management.
- ABC/XYZ Classification Advanced segmentation using SBC demand pattern logic (ADI + CV²). Includes a beautiful Inventory Health Dashboard with 3×3 matrix, Pareto charts, and actionable insights.
- MRP Exception Advisor Scans planned orders after every master planning run and prioritizes exceptions using a smart scoring system (Severity × ABC × XYZ, max 27 points).
- MRP Assessment Engine Runs up to 38 diagnostic checks across 9 categories to tell you whether your MRP output can actually be trusted — plan configuration, master data quality, safety stock gaps, Planning Optimization health, and more.
- Excess & Obsolete Cockpit Analyzes on-hand stock aging and gives clear disposition recommendations (Run out, Discount, Scrap, etc.) with provision value exposure.
Most D365FO customers still struggle with the same issues year after year:
- Too much dead/slow-moving stock
- Planners overwhelmed by exceptions
- Unreliable MRP output due to poor configuration
Inventory Optimizer was built to solve these problems directly inside D365FO — no external tools, no extra licensing, no complicated integrations.
