Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, was alive or dead after 1945: Ministry of External Affairs has no information

Priyanka Sohoni, the Central Public Information Officer of the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India in her response to an application filed under Right to Information Act, 2005 has admitted that her Ministry has no information to support whether our freedom fighter Subhas Chandra Bose was alive even after 1945 or any died in Taiwan in 1945. The CPIO made that disclosure on 15th March, 2024 in response to a request to supply the information on “was Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose alive even after 1945 and if not, then what documents support his death in 1945 in Taiwan. The said request was filed on The CPIO reiterated that under the law, her office is only bound to provide only that information which exists in record and that which is held by or under the control of that authority i.e., the Ministry of External Affair from which an inference can be made that she was of the opinion that other Ministry or Department of the Government of India are not in possession of information to respond to the aforesaid RTI query otherwise she could have transferred the said RTI application to other relevant Ministry or Department in possession of the relevant information and capable to respond to that RTI query.
