• R2 Standard ($48,490) — 2027. Single-motor RWD with the longest range in the lineup at 345 miles. A ~$45,000 variant with 275+ miles of range follows in late 2027.

The specs that stand out: 90.1 cubic feet of total storage, 9.6 inches of ground clearance (best in class), 4,400 lb towing capacity, and DC fast charging that adds 150 miles in 15 minutes. This is a vehicle designed for people who actually use their SUV — not just commute in it.

And the autonomy hardware is forward-looking: 11 cameras, 5 radars, with lidar as an option later in 2026 that Rivian says will eventually enable Level 4 self-driving capability.

The Real Question: What About the Network?

A great EV with nowhere to charge or get serviced is just an expensive paperweight. This is where things get interesting — and where Rivian has been quietly building something impressive.

Rivian Adventure Network: 370+ Locations and Growing

The Rivian Adventure Network (RAN) now spans 370+ charging locations with over 1,500 stalls across 43 states. These aren’t slow Level 2 trickle chargers at a hotel parking lot — the RAN includes dedicated DC fast charging stations capable of 300 kW, plus a growing network of Rivian Waypoints Level 2 chargers at state parks, trailheads, and destinations.

What’s notable is the pace. New locations are coming online regularly, with 17 additional sites currently in the pipeline. And the network is now open to non-Rivian EVs at most locations, which means more revenue to fund continued expansion.

The R2 also ships with a standard NACS port, giving owners access to 21,000+ Tesla Superchargers across North America — a massive expansion of the charging map for any Rivian owner.

90 Service Centers (and 20 More Coming)

Rivian currently operates 90 service centers across the country, with 20 more in development. This is a critical piece of the puzzle as R2 volumes ramp. For R2, this is going to matter — many buyers at the $45K–$58K price point are cross-shopping against the Tesla Model Y, Ford Mustang Mach-E, and Hyundai Ioniq 5.
