MAJOR Team of MAN 1 Yogyakarta Wins First Place in KSI MIST Infographic Competition

Yogyakarta, Indonesia — The MAJOR (Mansa Journalist) team from MAN 1 Yogyakarta, consisting of Faris Ahda Aulia, Kenzo Gavrilla Perdana, and Jefri Pramudya Alghazali, won first place in the 24th KSI MIST Anniversary Infographic Competition.

The competition was held online from April 25 to May 17, 2026, and attracted student participants from across the Special Region of Yogyakarta. Carrying the theme “Creative Horizons: Preserving Heritage, Igniting Intellectual Spirit, Shaping Civilization,” the event was organized as part of the 24th Anniversary of KSI MIST (Mathematics and Natural Sciences Scientific Study Group) of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Yogyakarta State University.

The competition featured three categories: logo design, celebration clip, and infographic design. The MAJOR team participated in the infographic category by presenting an environmental issue focused on microplastics.

According to Faris and his teammates, they chose the topic because plastic consumption in daily life remains very high, while many people are still unaware of its harmful impact on the environment. Through their infographic, they hoped to raise public awareness about the dangers of microplastics and encourage greater environmental responsibility.

During the production process, each team member was assigned a specific role. Faris explained that the infographic was completed in a relatively short time because the team had already conducted brainstorming sessions and agreed on a clear concept beforehand. The information was presented in a concise and visually appealing format, making it easy for readers to understand.

The Principal of MAN 1 Yogyakarta, Edi Triyanto, S.Ag., S.Pd., M.Pd., expressed his appreciation for the achievement earned by the MAJOR team. He stated that the accomplishment demonstrates the students’ ability to combine critical thinking, creativity, and awareness of global issues through innovative work.

“Alhamdulillah, we are very proud of the achievements of Faris Ahda Aulia, Kenzo Gavrilla Perdana, and Jefri Pramudya Alghazali. Their success is the result of teamwork, creativity, and dedication in transforming information into educational media that is both engaging and beneficial. Moreover, choosing the topic of microplastics reflects the students’ concern for environmental issues that have become a shared global challenge,” Edi said.

Faris and his teammates also encouraged other students to participate in competitions and gain valuable experience.

This achievement proves that students of MAN 1 Yogyakarta excel not only in academic fields but also in literacy, digital creativity, and public awareness through meaningful and innovative works. (sha)
