In a World Obsessed with Proof, Why Do We Still Believe in Love?
I once came across a quote that went something like this:
In a World Obsessed with Proof, Why Do We Still Believe in Love?

In sync
I once came across a quote that went something like this:
”Intelligent people can’t truly fall in love, because love can never be proven. Love is only for fools whose intelligence extends no further than making coffee and cooking rice.”
At first, I was confused.
Does that mean love isn’t real? Or that only foolish people are capable of falling in love? Then how do intelligent people see their partners? As someone to exchange stories with? A life companion? Or perhaps nothing more than a mutually beneficial arrangement?
The more I thought about it, the stranger it sounded.
Eventually, I realized that the quote wasn't really about intelligence. It was about the way people choose to navigate life.
Some people rely heavily on logic. They seek reasons, evidence, and explanations before they allow themselves to believe in something. They want certainty. They want proof.
And there is nothing wrong with that. The problem is that love has never worked that way.
Love does not arrive with data. It does not come with charts, statistics, or formulas capable of explaining why one person suddenly becomes so important to us.
You can’t measure longing with a ruler. You can’t weigh loyalty on a scale. You can’t calculate affection using numbers. Yet somehow, people continue to believe in love.
Why?
Because although love can’t be proven in a concrete, rational way, its effects are impossible to ignore.
Have you ever heard stories of a husband who visits his wife's grave every single day?
From a purely rational perspective, it may seem inefficient. There is no response waiting for him. No conversation taking place. No tangible result to be gained.
And yet, he keeps coming back.
Not because there is something to earn, but because there is something he refuses to abandon.
Perhaps that is where love reveals its true nature.
It creates things that logic alone struggles to explain: loyalty that outlives time, devotion that asks for nothing in return, and a longing that remains even after death has drawn its final line.
In a world increasingly obsessed with proof, love endures not because it can be proven, but because it can be felt.
Maybe that is why people continue to believe in it.
Not because humanity has successfully explained love, but because too many people have experienced it to deny its existence.
