What To Expect & Why Trump Is Addressing US on Thursday Night?

President Trump has announced his intention to address the nation on a nationally televised address tomorrow night, Thursday July 16th. He has stated this speech will be historically important, apparently implying he will review foreign policy, as well as what he often states is widespread voting fraud, and how certain foreign nations intended to interfere with the 2020 elections, and most believe he will recite his constant complaints that the 2020 election was stolen, and he actually won the election. Interestingly, this is far-from the first time Trump has made such claims, and in the past, he has never produced any real proof to demonstrate his assertions! Isn’t it interesting, Trump doesn’t complain about the 2016 election which he won, or the 2024 one which he was also victorious. His complaint is about the one of these three elections, when Trump was the US President, at the time of the Presidential election, which seems odd, and when even the ultra-conservative Heritage Foundation (which is credited with being the force behind so-called the right-wing-strategic Project 2025) has declared after doing their own investigation of US elections over a 2-decade period, are extremely secure, and in those 2 decades, they discovered well-under 100 examples of any voter fraud, which statistically is so low, that it shows election integrity seems to be a mostly Trumped-Up factor, etc.! With that in mind, and will the caveat that I do not know what Trump will actually say, this article will attempt to briefly consider, examine, review and discuss my theories, and why, if they are true, are extremely concerning.

It’s expected Trump will cite, probably in an out-of-context manner (as is his norm), soon-to-be declassified intelligence information, which he will most certainly attempt to imply support his years of making false claims of widespread voting fraud and irregularities, once-again probably blaming the vulnerabilities of voting machines in the 2020 election, as well as pointing-his-finger at the supposed weaknesses involved with absentee ballots, and how and when they get counted. Many believe this released information will show foreign entities attempted to interfere in US elections (which is probably somewhat-true), but we have seen, repeatedly, Trump making similar claims in the Courts, and being consistently defeated in those attempts!

So, what is the actual goal, and why this timing, at this point-in-time? While there might be many reasons, many, including me, believe it is another attempt to distract attention away from unpopular actions and strategies, such as his unpopular, expensive, unapproved or sanctioned war-of-choice in Iran, as well as his foreign policies regarding the USA’s traditional allies including Canada, Mexico, Greenland, Denmark, Spain, the EU, NATO, etc., as well as his internal domestic so-called Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) division, which there has been so much negative reporting about, especially regarding the lack of oversight and very-little transparency, as well as what many perceive as being akin to being Trump’s personal Gestapo, etc.! Many also fear and have written extensively (caveat, without actual verification) about what they believe will be the first-step in Trump’s anticipated pretext to challenge potential Democratic Party gains and wins in November, and to continue pushing for his so-called SAVE America program, which he constantly claims is merely to ensure fair elections and that so-called illegals from illegally voting, but, when one actually reads the proposal, seems to be far-from focused on voter integrity, and far-more about election and voting suppression! Many Courts have ruled that states, not the Federal government, control their election and voting rules, and in the 15 cases to-date, when states went to court to oppose the DOJ’s attempts to force compliance with what seems like an illegal federal registration system, and the proof of that, is the DOJ record enforcing their demands, has resulted in zero DOJ victories, with a record of 0 for 15!

It’s expected Trump will emphasize his unproven and disproven assertions and claims that there was widespread fraud during the 2020 elections, despite the fact, he lost that race by over 7 million votes, since he has spent the last 5 1/2 years, claiming and alleging that election was stolen from him! Isn’t it interesting, he is not claiming either the 2016 election which he won (victorious in Electoral College, while losing popular vote by a few million votes), nor the 2024 election, were stolen, but the one he lost in 2020, when coincidentally he was the sitting President? So, he would be saying that Biden and Obama ensured fair elections, but during his first-term, he failed to!

Both MSNow and Reuters have reported Trump plans to cite this recently declassified information, and he will purportedly imply, it proves both attempted foreign interference, as well as vulnerabilities in voting machines in that 2020 election. Remember, however, those who have claimed the voting software company (Dominion Voting Systems), such as FOX, resulted in FOX settling the lawsuit for $787 million! Another voting software company, Smartmatic has sued FOX, Newsmax, etc., for their false claims, and legal experts anticipate some sort of victory for the software company!

Many believe Trump’s primetime, televised address, tomorrow night at 9PM ET, is most-likely aimed at trying to accelerate this White House’s and Trump’s constant, many-pronged efforts to restrict the right-to-vote, as well as further eroding the Constitution’s checks and balances, intending to increase Executive Branch control before the upcoming November 2026 elections. Isn’t it interesting, and quite revealing, that these efforts have predominantly made it more difficult for those considered most likely to oppose Trump and MAGA approaches, while doing so as selectively as possible?

Historians tell us the US Founders wanted to ensure no one individual or small group had too much power, and that is why they included the concepts of checks and balances, so their would be a meaningful Balance of Power! We have already witnessed how this SCOTUS has significantly enabled Donald Trump, especially by its over-the-top, controversial, expanded interpretation of so-called Presidential immunity! Anyone who doesn’t believe this and many other Supreme Court actions, decisions, and inactions, have disproportionately moved our system towards the extreme-right, even though Constitutional experts mostly say the Court has been wrong! Since, currently, all three branches of the federal government have seemed willing to enhance Trump’s power and authorities, apparently ceding its duties, responsibilities, and oversight, in a somewhat-reckless manner!

Will the USA continue being proud of its Rule of Law, and Constitutional protections, guarantees, etc.? Or, will Trump and his minions and sycophants be permitted to usurp our laws and systems, and will our 250-year old tradition and heritage of protecting all guaranteed rights and freedoms, be lost forever?

There is no time to procrastinate! It’s time to resist persistently, and hold Trump accountable to the greater good! It’s time to ensure the corruption, grift, graft, insider trading, market manipulation, and reckless spending, is stopped! Don’t be fooled again. Otherwise, democracy as most know it, risk being lost or severely diminished, going forth into the future!
