A ZIT IS JUST A ZIT

I had my very first zit/ pimple this week,

I’m 22 by the way,

And I freaked out,

I promise, it wasn’t a thing of pride,

I’m not being insensitive to people that have to deal with that frequently,

I also have things I deal with that make me feel uncomfortable in my skin,

I wasn’t just expecting it.

I literally whined about it to my friends and family,

They made jokes about how I’m just reaching puberty at my age.

I honestly didn’t consider it funny,

I just wanted to get rid of it,

I researched on what could have gone wrong,

My parents had good genes and never had to deal with it,

Could I be reacting to something?

Is it almost that time of the month?

Is something wrong with my diet?

Am I really growing old?

All these questions and many more I asked,

And I obsessed over it day and night,

I have pictures to prove.

I like to take learnings from everything in my life,

I believe it’s one way God speaks to me,

I’m not a saint,

I fuck up a lot,

But He is always there,

To pull me back.

In summary, here’s what I took away from the whole zit issue,

Or more specifically, what I think God wanted me to learn.

Beauty is more of what’s within,

Not more of what’s without,

A zit doesn’t define who I am,

A zit doesn’t add or take away from my self worth and value,

A zit is a zit.

And instead of obsessing over a zit,

I should focus on what’s within,

Look inward,

That’s it,

Reflect,

Introspect,

Focus,

Maybe obsess a little,

Over the content of my heart,

Ask myself the tough questions,

Then work towards healing.
