Texicana — As I saw it!

Coming to the United States has never been short of a dream come true, with Chicago being the first place to land on, I feel grateful enough!

Over 6 months into the city, experiencing the fall, the unending winter combined with the daily routine of household and school stuff, my mind wanted to relax for real and body yearned for the warmth. Now, planning for a trip in the States without the complete knowledge of right side driving, a place with pleasant weather, affordable and safe enough for a solo traveller is a challenge in itself!

A little bit of patience and the appropritate instructions to Gemini helped me shortlist some desirable places in the southern part of the country.

Impressed by the rich history, great Tex-Mex cuisine, UNESCO recognition, I chose San Antonio in south-central Texas for my first solo trip in the States. Last week of March I got welcome by the great weather, with temperatures over 25 degree celsius everyday, I realized how Chicago taught me to appreciate the sun!

The San Antonio Riverwalk

San Antonio resembled like a small Spanish town in a lot of ways. The infrastructure was very similar to New Delhi, and the people were warm and kind, which makes this trip so much unforgettable! First time in a new country, I was treated by their own daughter with the housekeeping staff at the hotel calling me ‘Mama’ to the servers addressing me as ‘Hon’ , ‘Honey’ and the local people complimenting my attire and sparking a casual conversation!
