The Power of Your Yes

One massive leap into the life of your dreams

Something happened the moment I said “yes.” It’s been present in almost every big moment in my life. My saying yes changes things. It is almost as if the change is instantaneous within me and happening all around me. My “yes” opens and closes doors. It catalyzes new opportunities and creates new connections. My “yes” is so powerful.

I wonder if you know how powerful your “yes” is. In truth, you wield the very same energy when you say yes and commit to holding the vision of who you are. It happens when you create clarity around what you want in life. Your “yes” can compel you forward once you determine who you are.

Manifestation is an element of the power of your decision, but what I am referring to is much deeper. It is a spiritual connection to who you were designed to be. Where manifestation speaks to deciding to create a pathway, your “yes” to yourself confirms that you are ready for the possibilities that are already here. It may feel a bit nuanced, but if you check in with your soul, you know what I mean.

Something happens when you say “yes” to who you already are. I often refer to it as the “universal yes” or the “surrender” to your truth. We know who we are. We spend a decent amount of time in our lives working in opposition to our truth. Those choices keep us “efforting” or striving, resulting in our operating out of alignment with our higher consciousness within. Most of the time, people do not realize they are operating from this place because they simply cannot see it for themselves.

When someone chooses to go to therapy for a general concern, they often describe it as something “feeling off” or not being able to put their finger on it. They feel something is out of alignment but are not sure where to start. They may not be convinced that there is an issue, except for the feeling that things could improve.

Your “yes” can compel you forward once you determine who you are.

My clients are similar. They are accomplished, brilliant and incredibly good people. They have high track records of success and know how to move their businesses forward. They are skilled in leading others and are deeply committed to contributing in a meaningful way. In most cases, I find that what stands in the way of reaching the next level is the deeper connection to themselves.

As we explore the gap, they discover that they are disconnected from their “yes.” In almost every instance, they are on the cusp of something big yet they find themselves questioning what they know inside. They question themselves despite their continued success and highly regarded performance.

It is worthy of note that despite the performance and external recognition of their successes, the internal disconnect renders the external validation as barely significant. This means that even though they might seek feedback beyond themselves, they will feel dissatisfaction. The disconnectedness to the internal alignment reigns supreme. Your “Yes” is that important.

So how do you reconnect to your “yes?”

By now, you’ve made the connection that your “yes” is pointing you back to your intuition, which is your truth within. It is a muscle that needs to be strengthened. It requires introspection, exploration, and healing, of course. The disconnect creates internal distrust, which is resolved as you begin to trust yourself more.

You’ve been through a lot and the truth is that the experiences have helped silence the voice within.

How well do you trust yourself?

The best course of action depends on the current level of self-trust. Healthy self-trust is exhibited when the individual is comfortable expressing contrarian views and opinions, expresses confidence and sets healthy boundaries. They will often take risks in decision-making and lead from the front. Healthy levels of self-trust are demonstrated through their accountability and comfort leading without constant reassurance. They are able to reassure themselves even in high-pressure, high-stakes circumstances.

Self-trust is built over time, in the same way it is generated in relationships with other people. We often see the external signals as enough, but the way we genuinely feel inside is critical. Listening to yourself and knowing your inner voice is a key indicator of your connection to self. Recognizing your agency and ability to choose what is best for yourself and accepting yourself without constant criticism are great ways to identify your levels of self-trust. Perhaps the greatest value is knowing your worth and seeing it as separate from what others think or feel about you.

Who Is On Your Board?

As you strengthen your relationship with yourself, your trust in your intuitiveness grows. Listening to your inner voice to recognize the difference between your inner critic, old narratives, and the desires within can be complicated. Having a trusted external source to support you in deciphering what you hear and feel strengthens your recognition of what is real.

Our brains are incredibly good at their jobs, one of which is to keep us safe. That often presents as our inner critic or a flood of old stories and narratives to remind you of similar situations where there was a risk. These things can become welcome over time as you learn how to properly position them. They can be massive detractors from your growth without a mechanism for addressing them.

Imagine a child who has fallen several times riding a bike. The fear of falling is present, but if the desire to ride is strong enough, they will get up and try again. As adults, with years of experiences we have categorized as less than favorable outcomes, we often minimize the desire to do the thing we want because the memories of the disappointment are so heavy.

Developing self-trust is the best way to lessen the impact of the old narratives and memories. It is something that you can do for yourself, however, the value of working with a coach, therapist, close friend (with great objectivity skills), or advisor is invaluable. In my experience, the ability to remove the blocks to trust is heightened with support. My board includes a therapist, coaches, mentors, and specific friends who mirror my spiritual connectedness.

How Will You Integrate?

Once you can strengthen your self-trust, you will begin to see and experience yourself differently. Typically, there is some noticeable dissonance as you begin to shift from how you operated in the past. The experience can become polarizing for you and others as you express more clarity about who you are and what you know. Integration is the key to creating a seamless way of being, living in your purpose as a whole, and revitalizing YOU!

In short, integration is the process of defining the shifts that you are ready to make and identifying behaviors, beliefs, and branding that are misaligned. Your process of integration should always be customized to where you are in your journey and the shifts that you are ready to make. The process helps you to shift yourself and your environment and invites others to see and connect differently with you. The wisdom of integration coaching helps create clarity around what you are achieving as you become more entrenched in your purpose.

Your Purpose Deserves Your Yes

It’s safe to say that we know we have purpose within ourselves, but we do not always know how to bring it to life. A quick scan of your life’s journey will help you see how connecting to and saying yes to living in your purpose can be difficult. You’ve been through a lot and the truth is that the experiences have helped silence the voice within. Your “yes” creates intentionality to connect with your purpose and to live a genuinely authentic life. Our purpose connects to something larger than ourselves, and it matters. More than ever, the altruistic reason for living in our purpose is the impact of joy. Your most joyful and abundant life is embedded in living your purpose. You deserve to live that life to the fullest. It’s time. Now that you remember, say yes to beginning the exploration.
