Writing Is Rewarding: How Ship 30 for 30 Change My Writing

I came across Nicolas Cole on Quora (Really, I can’t fully remember how I met him). I knew in my scouring the web, I came across him because I love to write and read anything on writing that pulls my attention.
I started reading stuffs he wrote on Quora. I consume things he wrote. Then, I followed him up wherever he was writing: Business Insider, Inc. Forbes, Twitter, his website, Medium, Substack, Category Pirates, other websites where he was written about or interviewed.
Eventually, I found Muckrack where they pulled all his write-ups into a place with links to where they where. That makes easy for me to tap anyone and read.
When I followed him on Twitter, I saw him post about Ship 30 for 30. I saw his atomic habits and I was able to follow the hash tags and saw what others where writing.
I really desired to be part of that but immediately that never happened until 2020. I was able to join the ship and that became my turning point.
I had desired getting closer to Nicolas Cole. For this while, I had followed from afar. I had taken his email course, and I had read so much of his articles I could find.
Joining the Ship 30 for 30 turned my writing ship and pushed it far into the deep ocean and,
I started making money from writing.
I can remember once, an entrepreneur called me and said, I will like you to write for my Facebook page and I will pay you.” This is before Ship 30 for 30. She could see that i could write for her page. At that time I was writing on my Facebook profile what was called Daily Simple Challenge. I was posting every day. I guessed that inspired her to make her call me and said that to me.
One thing I was scared of at this point is naming a price for what i do. And even if I name a price it was likely to be paltry. I hardly name a price for what I did.
Making money was one of the things I desired writing should do for but the courage wasn’t there. How to go about that wasn’t a knowledge I would say was clear to me.
But after Ship 30 for 30, I got some courage and I was able to see ways I could make money from my craft of writing.
Right now, I have made over one million Naira (over $665.25), to be conservative, from writing. I did this through
becoming a writing coach.
People had always believed in me. People reached out to me often to learn one thing or the other. I also love to teach people what they don’t know. In fact, most of my writings teach something. It was something easy for me to do. But with that I wasn’t asking for any fee. I do free work and they walk away with the knowledge I had passed to them.
Going through Ship 30 for 30 changed that. Right now I charged for my coaching services. I have had people reached out to me from different states in Nigeria and people outside: African countries and from United States of America.
This has been my mainstay in writing and getting income. I’m happy doing this and getting paid. Each year, I scale up my coaching fee.
And People reach out to tell me how my write-ups have impacted their lives.
I get direct messages (DMs) from time to time telling me that my write-ups have been a source of inspiration and impact to them/ I get these from people I wasn’t expecting to get messages from. This is recurring decimal. Of course, I’m happy about this too. But you need to know that I followed a principle,
I learned that “Volume wins”.
I clearly learned this from Nicolas Cole. Volumes wins he would always say. I have observe his work and has found that volume actually wins. There was a story he told about writing for Inc. when he talked with the editor of writing 30 pieces for Inc. and the editor had an initial disbelief however he gave him the permission to do that. At that time at Inc. the writers only do 4 articles for a month. When Nicolas was given this opportunity, and he started writing 30 pieces per month, that changed the game for him on Inc. He became one of the top writers on Inc. Volume wins!
I have heeded to this on the major platform I write on and I can see the rewards that comes from churning out lots and lots of content.
You need to know that for you to generate volumes of content you must, one thing must happen. That’s when
I learned how to generate ideas endlessly.
In Ship 303 for 30, I learned how to generate ideas endlessly using a framework we were taught in Ship 30 for 30. That changed my writing game. I could see ideas everywhere. I could see what to write on just looking at another person’s headline or reading someone else’s article. I could get ideas from just a single word. Of course we were also introduced to Typeshare while going through Ship 30 for 30 which was template-ridden platforms. I used some of the templates to generate some of my content.
Ship 30 for 30 for me was turning point for my writing journey.
