The Lazy Person’s Guide to Getting More Done

Last year, I watched an industry colleague in church narrate the story of how she breezed through her tasks while the rest of her unit were drowning in emails and meetings. By 2PM, she had already finished her priorities and was sipping tea, calm and collected.

Curious, I asked her a secret. She laughed and said: “I’m just lazy. I don’t like wasting energy, so I find the easiest way to get things done.”

That line stuck with me. Maybe productivity isn’t about grinding harder, it’s about being “strategically lazy.” Here’s how:

1. Do the Small Stuff Right Away

Lazy people hate carrying mental clutter. If it takes less than 5 minutes, finish it immediately. Quick wins clear your head and free up energy for bigger tasks.

2. Batch Your Work

Instead of jumping between emails, calls, and reports, group similar tasks together. One block for emails, one block for calls. It’s less tiring and surprisingly faster.

3. Silence the Noise

Notifications are like mosquitoes ,they drain focus. Turn them off during deep work. Lazy people know fewer interruptions = less effort wasted.

4. Reuse and Automate

Templates, shortcuts, and automation are a lazy person’s best friends. Why reinvent the wheel when you can copy, paste, and move on? Please automate and resuse template fa!

5. Be Selectively Lazy

Not every task deserves your time. Focus on the 20% that drives 80% of results. Being “lazy” about low‑value work is actually smart prioritization. Read the last line again.

Productivity isn’t about being busy — it’s about being effective. The lazy person’s guide is simple: conserve energy, cut waste, and focus only on what truly matters. Work less, achieve more.
