"Smart People Write Smart Characters."

Lately, I have been writing a story about a discarded queen plotting her revenge against those who betrayed her.

And from the very beginning, I did not realize it was going to be this hard.

How am I supposed to write her plans when I myself do not know the first thing about revenge?

Sometimes it makes me wonder whether I should stop writing because genres like politics and revenge, which demand critical thinking, might simply not be my cup of tea.

And then another question comes to my mind: If she was so capable, then why was she betrayed in the first place?

These are the questions that keep my eyes wide open at 2 a.m., where I cannot decide whether to stop writing and save myself from embarrassment or continue to let my soul do it’s thing.

And perhaps I was wrong from the very beginning.

Because being intelligent does not necessarily mean never being betrayed or never making mistakes.

As they say, intelligence does not grant immunity from human emotions. Even the most knowledgeable people in the room can trust the wrong person or overlook the obvious and fail to see a betrayal coming from someone they love.

Perhaps the goal was never to make her a mechanical creature but a human with flaws.

To let her make mistakes by choosing wrong paths, so that she thinks twice before carving her way forward.

After all, a flawless character may be impressive in our minds, but a flawed one is the one which is memorable in our hearts.

And maybe that is where I finally found my answer.

I do not need to be the smartest person in the room to write a smart character. I just simply need to show that intelligence and humanity can coexist.

And maybe, just maybe, I am capable of writing those pages after all.
