The world of NFTs is about to get a whole lot more interesting with the arrival of the ERC-404 standard. You can listen to the full conversation here.

This innovative concept breaks the mold of traditional NFTs by enabling them to be fractionalized, essentially turning unique digital assets into tradable shares.

Imagine co-owning a rare CryptoKitty! ERC-404 bridges the gap between fungible tokens (like ERC-20) and non-fungible tokens (like ERC-721), creating a new category: semi-fungible tokens. This means NFTs can retain their unique collectability while also offering increased liquidity through fractional ownership.

While still in its experimental phase, the ERC-404 standard has the potential to revolutionize NFT ownership. The Grails NFT project, for example, explored its potential on Starknet, showcasing the exciting possibilities this standard holds.

While Grails itself hasn’t continued development on Starknet, the idea remains promising. By leveraging ERC-404, NFT ownership can become more accessible, attracting a wider audience and boosting the overall NFT ecosystem.
