“These heels aren’t for approval. They’re for purpose. For peace. For power. And baby, they walk.”

Dressing Like You Mean It
Every morning, I choose softness on purpose. Not just in tone — but in texture. In color. In silhouette.
Some days, that softness comes in the form of a heel that clicks like a metronome. A reminder: I walk in rhythm with my own becoming.
These heels aren’t a costume. They’re a calling.
Not everyone understands that. But I no longer dress for understanding.
What They Get Wrong
In environments where exhaustion is normalized and presence is muted, showing up polished becomes its own rebellion.
Suddenly, your blouse is a threat. Your elegance becomes a conversation. Your heels are “too much.”
But I’ve learned that most of what gets labeled “too much” is just a reflection of what others haven’t yet allowed themselves to be.
I don’t dress for show. I dress because I remember.
Our Ancestors Wore Beauty Like Armor
Black women have always used adornment to tell the truth about ourselves — especially when the world tried to lie.
We braided maps into our hair. We wrapped our heads when our faces weren’t allowed. We wore Sunday best when we had barely enough for Monday.
So, no — these heels aren’t vanity. They’re inheritance.
Every time I button that blouse, glide that gloss, or step into those heels, I’m stepping into a lineage that refused to be erased.

These Heels Are Made For…
These heels are made for more than arrival. They’re made for leaving behind what no longer fits. For ascending to spaces I once disqualified myself from. For staying grounded in rooms where my softness is mistaken for weakness.
These heels are made for walking away from people who liked me better invisible. They’re made for slow strolls through the joy I earned. They’re made for choosing me — out loud and on purpose.
They are not a mask. They are a mirror. They reflect back the woman I promised myself I’d become.
Walk Like You Mean It
You don’t need permission to shine. You don’t need to dull your beauty to be believed. You don’t need to shrink your style to prove you’re serious.
Let them stare. Let them whisper. Let them wonder how you kept your soul soft and your heels high.
You don’t owe them an explanation. But you do owe yourself the truth:
“These heels are made for healing. For honoring. For holding my head high. And yes — they’re made for walking. In my full sparkle. With no apology.”
