The Problem With Comparison
Comparison is strange.
It can make a successful person feel unsuccessful.
You can be making progress, learning, earning more than you did last year, becoming better at your craft and still feel behind because of what you saw on your phone for five minutes.
I’ve done it.
I’ll see someone announce a new role, a certification, a business milestone, or a major achievement, and for a brief moment I’ll forget everything I’ve accomplished.
Comparison has a way of editing reality.
It zooms in on someone else’s highlight and zooms out on your own journey.
The truth is, most of us are carrying challenges that never make it into a post.
We’re all seeing a fraction of the story.
That’s why I’ve started asking a different question.
Not “Am I where they are?”
But “Am I further than I was?”
That question is usually much kinder.
And much more useful.
