An Accidental Click: The Start

My story begins with scrolling on LinkedIn, which, at the time, did not require active job searching nor ambition, as I had no intentions of working. The post was about a freelance writing gig that required knowledge of dental hygiene, and I stumbled upon it.

Given that I was still a dental student and already had a passion for writing, it felt as if it had been made for me. Without giving it much thought, I reached out, attached two of my blogs, and was later hired for my first writing project within a few hours.

6. Deliver Professionally — Maintain courtesy in the message, have proper formatting, finish on time, and ensure dates are met.

• Niche Knowledge: As a dental student, it was simple for me to write articles pertaining to health, wellness, and hygiene.
• Quick Turnaround: I set a 48-hour delivery window and was able to deliver even earlier when I could.

• Consistency: Even when I felt unmotivated, I showed up and wrote.

5. Deliver Quality Work: Clients tend to love dependable and steady writers.

6. Build Relationships: One happy client can refer five other clients to you.

Final Thoughts

While two hundred dollars does not seem like a lot of money, earning it shifted my perspective. It made me realise that I didn’t need to have prestigious university diplomas, costly classes, or decades of work in my niche to start making money as a writer. All I needed to do was get started.
