A visit to Barcelona — Decipher 2024

Decipher hosted on your home continent? In Barcelona? ¡Vamos!

Two of ASA Stats governors, Marin and I (Kerr) drove to the Venice airport in my faithful old Corolla and took the 90-minute flight. Upon arrival, starving, we rushed into a burrito bar just before checking into our Airbnb. Our loft was located in Poblenou, which is within walking distance to Decipher 2024, Nova Icària and Bogatell beaches. The city is very walkable, so we barely used any public transportation services.

While heading towards Big C, the venue for Decipher, we began to notice people wearing blue T-shirts with “Keep building!” printed on them. Excitement really started to kick in. It was nice to see the Algorand logo on the building. The event designers did a great job with the decor, graphics, lighting, and even music. The whole event arrangement was above expectations. People from all around the globe were present, learning about Algorand’s partnerships with Coinbase, MasterCard, and Nansen.

All the ecosystem superstars were there… Pera, Tinyman, Folks Finance, Cosmic Champs, and all the others! Various workshops were constantly held, covering fields of development, marketing, finance, art, project boosting, and others. The food was delightful. Both evenings were wrapped with a party. DeFiesta, hosted by Folks Finance at Club Soda (La Barceloneta), was a blast!

Locals passing by Big C couldn’t figure out what was going on here; they just concluded — “Fanaticos de cryptomonedas.” On the other hand, we had a great time, met a lot of new people, and made valuable connections. Expect us in future Decipher iterations! And, if you ever visit Barcelona, you’d miss out if you don’t try the Bomba tapas!
