The Lonely Road Chapter Two: Rules, Regulations and Schedules
Nile's life with his wife Sheila is based on a set of rules, regulations, and schedules, but is he happy with all of it? What about what happened to him on the road? Is he still thinking about it?

I couldn't think of a time when Sheila and I were happy; we had always been content with our relationship, but never happy.
We were together, and that's how we saw ourselves, together, nothing more, nothing less.
"Morning," I smiled as I entered the kitchen just before heading to work.
"You slept well," Sheila stated as she saw to the kid's needs.
"Thanks," I kissed her on the forehead as I brushed past her.
This was our usual morning ritual, repeated daily. She saw to the kids' needs, breakfast, and getting them to school, then went to work; I went to work and then picked up the kids on the way home. We were in a routine cycle that kept repeating over and over.
There were no surprises, nothing that shocked anyone.
Until two nights ago, when I cheated on Sheila with a busty state trooper, I had fucked her raw and came inside her.
I hadn't fucked Sheila in months, probably just over a year.
I looked at our youngest, Jayden, who had just turned one a few weeks ago; that was the last time I remembered having sex with Sheila.
We were on vacation in the Bahamas, and we had drunk a lot. Her mom had the kids in her hotel room. When we got back to our room, we started making out, and then we had sex, that's what it was, sex, boring, sex.
There were no thrills with a woman like Sheila; she even stated that sex to her was just an act, something that males and females did, she didn't see it as something to be enjoyed or coveted.
It wasn't that I wasn't good at it, as the busty state trooper had loved my cock inside her, she begged me to fuck her. Sheila was the opposite; she wanted it over and done with, even after the first few times we had ever fucked, I had brought her to screaming orgasms many times.
Sheila told me not to do that again as it made her feel inhuman, and she didn't like losing control of herself like that, so anytime I did try it, she would tell me to stop, even going so far as kicking me off her.
I had asked her mother about it, and Clarice told me that Sheila had always wanted to be in control of her emotions and how and what she felt, even as a little child. She didn't cry unless there was a reason, and she didn't get overjoyed at Christmas or Birthday parties, not like her other siblings.
Clarice said it probably had to do with her husband, Quinn, the preacher. Quinn was a very quiet and decisive person; he didn't say anything out of turn. He spoke when he wanted to and stayed quiet most of the time. Except for Sundays at church, then he talked like the dam had been broken.
He knew we had sex before marriage, and to this day, he condemns us for it. Luke, our firstborn son, was a mistake in his eyes. Quinn was the main reason Sheila and I hadn't divorced yet. Quinn kept tabs on everything we did, what we bought, and how much money I made.
The rest of his kids were able to run free and wild, but not his baby girl, not Sheila.
I had provided well for my family. We had a nice house in the suburbs. Sheila drove a nice SUV with all the trimmings and luxury features. Our house had a huge backyard for the kids to play. I wasn't a bum or thug like my brother, who thought he was still a teen on the streets of Miami.
"Alright," I picked up my coffee and waved at everyone. "See you later."
"Have a good day," Sheila waved.
I waved at my neighbor as I walked to my car. I left my Camaro at home inside the two-car garage, next to Sheila's SUV. It was my pride and joy, and most of the time it stayed at home. I only drove it once in a while.
Maybe if I had driven my work car to my family get together, I wouldn't have gotten pulled over by that state trooper, but then I would have missed out on getting the fuck of a lifetime.
My work car was much slower and nowhere near as fast or responsive as my Camaro. I drove slowly into work, seeing the regular people that I saw every workday.
This was the usual routine, a normal day.
"Hey!" I waved at everyone in the work bay as I strode into work.
"Hey, boss!" some of them yelled as I went to my office.
I owned and operated a very well-established custom workshop for American cars. I had plenty of people in the area who wanted custom work done to their cars, trucks, semis, and SUVs.
Most of the work in the bays at the moment was pickup trucks; some were being lifted, others were custom paint jobs or wraps.
"Hey Niles," my secretary waved as I passed her office.
"Hey Julie," I poked my head into her small office.
Julie had recently gotten married, and on her desk were pictures of her and her husband, Morgan. She was all smiles as she saw me.
"Thanks again," Julie grinned at me.
"Julie, you can stop saying thank you. It's been three months," I stood in her doorway.
Julie was very neat compared to my last secretary, who kept this office like a pigsty; there were things everywhere, and asking her for anything I needed took almost an hour.
Julie was neat and organized. "I have that new client list for you," Julie reached for a folder on her desk and handed it to me.
"Nice!" I walked closer and took it from her.
"Yeah, they want all their fleet vehicles wrapped with their new logos," Julie stated. "Fourteen total, with seven more planned."
"That should keep us busy for a while," I grinned.
"Yeah, it should," Julie agreed.
I should have married someone like Julie; she was more my type. Curvy in all the right places, with long mouse brown hair and cute as a button. She obviously liked black guys, as her husband had a darker complexion than I did.
I often caught her dancing to rap or hip-hop music in the break room, and all the guys on the work floor kept commenting about her large ass. Plus, she could keep up with all of them. When they talked crudely and sexually, the last secretary often told me to talk to them, so they could stop talking like that.
"I think I over did it with Glenn this morning," Julie tried to seem innocent.
"What did he do this time?" I asked.
"He said that since Morgan had taken me off the buffet list, he might have to take a sample to go," Morgan smiled.
I looked out her window and into the work bay. I saw Glenn working on a large pickup truck.
"What did you say in return?"
"I told him I had seen the types of women he had sex with, and I am way more than he could handle," Julie chuckled.
I nodded my approval. "You're not wrong."
I knew all my guys; they were harmless. They loved to talk crudely and rudely at times, but they wouldn't do anything to Julie or any other woman who walked in here.
I headed to my office, and my assistant manager was already there.
"What's up?" I asked as I headed for my desk.
My office was the largest of the three, and it was also farther from the noise of the work bay.
I had pictures of the kids on my desk. On the walls, I had pictures of the first few custom jobs I did when I started.
I started doing custom jobs in Miami, but back then, it wasn't for paying clients; it was for illegal reasons. After I nearly got caught and sent to jail, I went on the straight and narrow. It wasn't as much fun, but at least it was legal.
I moved up here to South Carolina after I made a name for myself. That's where I met Sheila; she was at a party, and she was nice to me. We hit it off well, as friends, and we should have kept it that way. She helped me build my reputation around the city as a respected name, and I got my foot in the door to many places.
Then one night, after a few drinks too many, we made the fatal mistake of taking our friendship too far, which ended with her being pregnant. I had to do something, as I knew her father was a pillar of the community where we both lived. I proposed to Sheila on the spot, knowing her father would hate me, but I had to do it.
That was how I ended up here. I took out a bank loan to buy this place and turned it into a custom shop. Luckily for me, it took off like a racehorse, and I hadn't had one bad year yet; if anything, I was making too much money.
I was already thinking of buying another shop and letting my assistant run this place.
"Drake called out," Lester said as he stood by my desk.
Lester Collins had been an old friend of mine from Miami. He called me when he got out of prison, asking for a job. I gave him a chance, and he hasn't let me down since. He had been the best man at my wedding.
Lester was taller than me and as pale as paper; we used to call him lite bright back in the day because he stood out in the pitch black, but now he was my right-hand man. I couldn't do any of this without him, especially keeping my sanity.
"Third time in a row," I responded.
"Yeah," Lester scratched his chin. "I really thought he would be turning his life around, since he had that kid."
"You think it’s because of the kid?" I asked.
"No," Lester shook his head. "His back on something, I could hear it in his voice. I will swing by and check on him, if he’s a lost cause I will cut him loose. We gave him a fair shot."
"Sounds like you got it handled," I nodded.
"How was the family visit?" Lester asked.
"You know, family," I shrugged as I started my computer and stared at the stacks of paperwork I had to go through.
I missed the days when I could get my hands dirty and not worry about all of this.
"Okay," Lester headed for the door.
"The ride back home was interesting," I stated before Lester got to the door.
"How interesting?"
"Close the door and keep your mouth shut interesting," I replied.
"No shit!"
Lester closed the door, instantly, and all the sound from the work bay fell silent.
Lester took a seat in front of me; his eyes stared at me. "How fast did you get it?"
Lester and I had worked on my Camaro, and he was always interested in which car I beat or how fast I got it to go.
"It’s not about the Camaro, it’s about who pulled me over," I grinned.
"A hot cop, nice!" Lester grinned.
I told him about the busty trooper and how she had nearly fooled me, and how I thought I was going to get beaten up by some racist cops.
Then I went into what happened afterward.
"No, fucking way!" Lester shook his head.
"Fuck yes!" I exclaimed. "I am telling you they were the biggest fucking tits I have ever seen."
"Bigger than Julie’s?" Lester asked.
"They make Julie’s look like mosquito bites!"
"Fuck me!"
"She did that too, she backed that huge ass up on my cock, I thought she was tear it right off!"
"I think I might have to take my charger for a ride," Lester sat back in his chair.
I laughed.
"If she gets a hold on you she might kill you!" I laughed along with him.
"You said there were others, maybe I will get lucky and get a less aggressive one," Lester smiled. "I like my dick to stay attached."
"Well, she wouldn't be for you," I shook my head.
For the past few days, I had been thinking about just driving out there to see if I could see her or get pulled over by her again. I wished I had gotten her number or even a name.
"What about Sheila?" Lester asked.
Instantly, my raging hard-on disappeared as reality smacked me in the head.
My wife, my boring home, and everything that awaited me when I got off work. I loved my kids, but Sheila was trying to push her way and thoughts onto them. Anytime they cried or got out of hand slightly, she was there to bring them back to her level of thinking.
They had to cry for a reason; if they wanted anything, it had to be something to enrich their lives, not just for fun. Fun wasn't an option in Sheila's head; she didn't do anything just for fun or entertainment; it had to have a practical reason, something that either needed to be done or had a genuine purpose.
That's why sex to her wasn't something she wanted, because there was no actual need for it, other than to procreate, and after we had Jayden, Sheila wanted to make sure she never got pregnant again.
So, that's why we hadn't had sex; there was no reason for it now. The ability to have kids and keep the family going had been taken away, so there was no need.
With three kids, two of them boys, the family name could keep going, that's how Sheila thought about it.
"I don’t know," I shrugged. "I am not telling her."
"Fuck no!" Lester shook his head. "She would see that as grounds for a divorce, and she would take everything."
That was Sheila, and truthfully, I wouldn't fight her on it.
Even though it had been the best thing that had happened to me in a long time, it was still cheating, and she would have the right to divorce me, but damn did it feel good at the time.
There was part of me that wanted to tell her, end this boring routine. I could find someone else, have fun for a change, and have a normal life. But I knew she would ruin me in this city. I would probably lose the shop, and everyone here would need to find another job.
Some of the guys working in the bay were ex-convicts or had made some mistakes in their lives. I had given them a second chance to prove themselves. If I lost this, they would need to start over.
Julie was a drug addict, which was why she kept thanking me. I helped pay for her wedding because both she and her husband were broke; this was all she had, without me.
"No, I definitely can’t let this get out," I shook my head.
"You know me," Lester stood up.
"I know," I nodded.
Telling Lester anything was like putting something in a vault and letting the vault sink to the bottom of the ocean.
He smiled at me and then headed out of my office.
Whatever happened on that road the other day had to stay there. There was too much on the line for it to get out.

The rest of the day went by without any problems. I went to the school and picked up my kids.
They loved hanging out with me, especially before their mom came home, because I was fun. I let them do things I knew Sheila wouldn't allow, like play video games and jump around on the furniture. Kids had to be kids.
I had a warning siren that went off throughout the house; it went off when I knew Sheila was on her way home.
Like clockwork, I got a text from Sheila saying she was leaving work to go to the supermarket to pick up a few things.
I hit the alarm and immediately heard the kids stop playing games and jumping around like crazy people.
Immediately, the game consoles went into their secret hiding place, the furniture got put back, and the kids went to their rooms to read and do homework.
Jayden was with me in my home office.
This was our routine, and I hated it for the kids; for me, I was accustomed to it, but for them, having fun shouldn't be taken away.
"Home," Sheila came into the office.
"Okay," I replied.
Sheila came inside and picked up Jayden. "How did it go?" Sheila asked.
I handed her the daily report for the shop. She held Jayden in one arm and looked over the report.
"A good day," Sheila responded. "Drake called out again? Is Lester going to handle that?"
"Yeah, he went over there today," I replied.
"Good, you really should stop giving these crooks second chances," Sheila told me.
"The business is doing good, so as long as it is," I turned coldly to her.
"You're right, that was the agreement. I am sorry," Sheila responded.
I stayed out of her business if she stayed out of mine. The only reason I shared the daily report with her was that her father had helped me with the first loan, but a few more good months, and that loan, as well as the loan for the house, would be completely paid off, and after that, he could stay out of everything I earned and did.
"I will get dinner ready," Sheila said.
"Already got started," I stood up, walked past her, and headed for the kitchen.
"Did the others get started on their homework?" Sheila asked from behind me.
"They always do," I sighed.
"I have to ask," Sheila replied.
"You always do."
"Things have to happen, so they could get good jobs and provide for themselves after they leave the house," Sheila said as I looked at the pot of stew I had made.
"I know," I replied.
"No, you want them to have fun, and be reckless," Sheila shook her head. "That way of thinking is why my sister is living paycheck to paycheck and is behind on her bills, she wanted to have fun, now look at her."
"I bet she is fine," I shrugged.
"No, she isn't," Sheila retaliated. "She just asked dad for more money, because she is late on her rent, again!"
I didn't respond.
"What about your brother, he thinks it’s fun to be roaming the streets, playing cops and robbers," Sheila approached me. "How is that going for him?"
"You made your point," I stared at her.
"This is the real-world Niles, fun isn’t an option, rules and regulations and schedules keep things going, not fun and entertainment."
"I bet singers and actresses would disagree," I joked.
"Not funny, half of them have drug addictions and have been divorced more times than we have fingers and toes," Sheila shook her head. "And don’t get me started on how much they owe their…."
"I was joking!"
Sheila handed Jayden back to me. "I am going to take a shower."
I watched as she stormed off.
"She is your mother," I said, staring at Jayden's cute face. "Yes, she is, but I am your father, and I promise you will have fun when I am around."
Just once, I would love for the routine and schedule around here to break.
