We have published an updated version of an individual Internet-Draft and shared it with the IETF SCITT (Supply Chain Integrity, Transparency, and Trust) Working Group.
The draft is titled:
“A SCITT Profile for Verifiable Audit Trails in Algorithmic Trading: The VeritasChain Protocol (VCP)” (draft-kamimura-scitt-vcp-02)
This document explores how SCITT transparency services and receipts can be applied to algorithmic and AI-driven trading systems, with a particular focus on verifiable audit trails and the detection of omission and split-view scenarios.
Background
Algorithmic and AI-driven trading systems operate in environments where post-hoc verification matters. When disputes, incidents, or regulatory reviews arise, the question is often not only what happened, but whether the records themselves can be independently verified.
SCITT provides a general transparency framework for tamper-evident statements and receipts. This draft does not propose a new transparency architecture. Instead, it examines how existing SCITT concepts can be applied as a concrete financial-domain profile, aligned with the realities of live trading systems.
What the draft covers
The draft focuses on:
- Applying SCITT transparency services to trading-system audit logs
- Verifiable audit trails for algorithmic and AI-driven trading decisions
- Use of external anchoring and receipts for independent verification
- Design considerations for detecting omission and split-view scenarios
- Positioning as a profile built on SCITT, not a replacement or parallel system
The goal is to support open technical discussion within the SCITT community on whether this approach aligns with the current architectural direction of the working group.
Reference implementations
To ground the discussion in running code, open-source proof-of-concept implementations are publicly available for real-world trading environments:
- MT5 reference implementation https://github.com/veritaschain/vcp-rta-reference
- cTrader reference implementation https://github.com/veritaschain/vcp-ctrader-rta-reference
These implementations are provided as technical references to illustrate how the concepts described in the draft can be realized in practice.
Draft and discussion
The Internet-Draft is available on the IETF Datatracker:
https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-kamimura-scitt-vcp/
The draft has been shared with the SCITT mailing list to invite open technical feedback and discussion. Comments, questions, and architectural feedback from the community are welcome.
