I Am Optimistic (Poem)

When I look back, I see all the mistakes I have made. When I look forward, I see all the possibilities out there for me. When I look at the present, I realise all the work I need to put in.

Consistency and focus, coupled with love, All laminated with God’s guidance I need If I must really be anything of value To a generation.

A smile on my face In the face of doubt and discouragement; A heart of love Even when I am taken advantage of; These I must possess.

Standing up When I fall, Asking questions Even when I might be looked upon as foolish, Doing things I am not comfortable with To grow.

Reading, learning, and making sacrifices; These and many more I must do To attain the possibilities I behold. This is no simple work For nothing of worth comes without sacrifice.

Today will be tomorrow’s past. When I look at today from tomorrow, I want to do so with a smile on my face. So hard work, love, consistency, and faith in God Must be my good friends.

The future is bright, Though the past may have been uneven And the present is uncertain, I look forward to that bright future. I am optimistic :).
