The Nights Nobody Sees

Tonight tested me.

Not because I couldn’t do the work… but because I thought I was finished.

After submitting my very first paid voice-over project, I got an email asking me to make corrections. Some of my filenames needed to be changed. Then I found out every single audio file had to be exported again in a different format.

I’ll be honest.

There were moments tonight where I wanted to throw my computer out the window.

There were moments where my brain immediately went to its favorite place…

“Maybe I’m just not cut out for this.”

If you’ve followed me for a while, you probably know that’s something I struggle with. One mistake, one setback, one unexpected hurdle… and my mind loves to convince me that I’ve somehow failed.

But tonight reminded me of something important.

Being new at something doesn’t mean you’re bad at it.

It means you’re learning.

This is my very first paid voice-over job.

Of course there are things I didn’t know.

Of course I’m going to make mistakes.

The important part isn’t that I got everything right the first time.

The important part is that I stayed with it until it was done.

Tonight wasn’t glamorous.

There wasn’t a big celebration.

There wasn’t an exciting announcement.

There was just me… a laptop… way too many WAV files… and a whole lot of determination.

Sometimes growth doesn’t look exciting.

Sometimes it looks like refusing to quit.

And maybe that’s the reminder I needed tonight.

Not every setback is a sign to stop.

Sometimes it’s just another lesson that future you will be incredibly thankful you learned.
