Every month the team at Nkọwa okwu reaches new heights with building the best Igbo language technology available. We’re excited to share our updates from this past month.

Collecting hundreds of Igbo audio data

We are committed to and even more focused on collecting more types of Igbo data to build advanced Igbo language to make it even easier for you to learn and use Igbo.

We’ve expanded the Igbo API Editor Platform to make it easy for individuals committed to crowdsourcing to record audio for Igbo sentences on the platform. This data will be directly used to build Igbo speech technology.

We have more than 100 hours of Igbo audio on our platform today, and we plan on adding hundreds of more in the coming months. More to come in the future 😉

Nsịbịdị is an important aspect of Igbo culture and Nkọwa okwu is committed to showcasing every facet of the writing system. We’re excited to announce that Nkọwa okwu now shows individual Nsịbịdị character information for users directly in our search results page.

Reducing Duplicated Word Entries

A dictionary is never perfect — there will always be errors and growing pains, but ultimately increasing in quality. We perform regular dictionary audits to catch any anti-patterns or mistakes introduced into the dictionary.

One major focus this month was removing duplicate Word entries that were appearing in our site’s search results. We have addressed a project 80% of our duplicated word entries to help mitigate confusion from our users browsing the site.
