How nature is chaos yet a masterpiece

If you’ve ever hit a creative block or are looking for inspiration, you can never go wrong with nature. Chances are, something you’ve already made steals a trick or two from her. (don’t worry, she doesn’t charge royalties)

Nature is chaos because it’s wild, alive and uncontrollable. Erosion, storms, birth, death, growth, decay and more. Plants grow through concrete, rivers carve new paths, and the weather changes suddenly. We can’t fully tame or predict it. But within that ‘mess’ lies repeating beauty and design. This balance is what makes it so inspiring. It shows that life doesn’t have to be perfect to be a masterpiece. (good news for messy desks everywhere)

And, come on, she’s the OG designer. From unusual rock formations to a perfect spiderweb, nature’s shapes are chaotic yet deeply intentional. She does what she wants. She appears to be random but has wild patterns everywhere, if you look closely. It balances unpredictability with hidden order, just like our bodies.

Why do humans love it?

Our eyes are pattern-hunting machines. Even when we aren’t fully aware of it, our mind is. Lines, dots, shapes, flows, curves, colours, patterns and textures. We can’t help but see connections everywhere and are wired to find patterns.

It soothes us and sparks creativity, which feels like solving a mysterious puzzle waiting to be solved. Patterns remind us we’re not separate from nature but deeply connected to it. We find comfort in seeing ourselves reflected in the world outside. It’s the same language running through our bodies: veins, fingerprints, neurons, fractals, mirrored in rivers, tree branches, lightning and more.

Wild reflections to blow your mind

We share DNA with every living thing. We rely on natural resources, breathe the same air (as dinosaurs once did), drink the same water and run on the same energy. We are part of nature’s complex web — influenced by it and influencing it too. How can we ever claim to be separate? We are made of the same energy source as the rest of the cosmos is. Crazy to think about it as it is, we humans are a by-product of this experiment. We are nature. And when you look closer, here’s what you’ll see:

• Embrace the ‘chaotic’ phases of life as they often lead to renewal and growth. Maybe our ‘messy bits’ are a part of a bigger design.

Branches and beings

I mean, look at those trees outside your window. They have branches. We have hands and feet as extensions of our body. They consist of intertwined spiral lines. We also have them on our fingerprints and soles of our feet. Trees cannot leave the soil. Deeply rooted. Humans can live only on land. They feed mostly from their roots. So do we. Fruits and vegetables. Oh and photosynthesis? Our blood! Oxygen and nutrients supplier.

Chaos, yet patterns. Wild, yet purposeful. Coincidences are crazy, aren’t it? Or clues that we’re part of the same cosmic design?
